yes, i am excited :)!!! never seen a hibiscus this big on the side of the world. i was totally surprise to see this measure to 10" across, so big LOL!!!
i planted this one from seed last year. i thought it was dead during the winter, but it came back when the weather got warm. it bloomed for the first time today.
Kyle do u know it's name?
Toshiba PDR-M61
Eclipse LOOK!!
Pretty.
Ma Vie its a southern Belle Pink hardy hibiscus.I have these at home here..they die back each winter and come up again in May of the following spring. They will set seeds soon. Each flower still lasts only a day . :-)
Thanks Gloria & Kyle :)! amazing, it is only 1-1/2' tall, yet such huge bloom. it is planted in a 1 gal. ink container i made into a pot. it definitely is a keeper! i am surprise cause i never expected to see one here. it is a common plant in the tropical islands. it didn't matter if it stays only a day. there are other buds coming along. look liked it is going to be a prolific bloomer.
I love those, they are hardy here too.
i love it too Cala :)! i've seen lots of hibiscus grown locally, but never seen one this big LOL!
Ma Vie the hardy varieties are big like this..the tropicals seldom even get close to this size. :-)
learn more everyday :)! that being the case Kyle, probably most i've seen growing in Ca. are tropical hibiscus then. thanks Kyle!!!
Wow, MaVie, I hope that's the same one I got, too...can't wait til she blooms!!! Thank you!!! Hope you like what I'm sending you in the morning...included a few surprises too!
i hope so Meiyu :), if not i will try to start a cutting for u, if not save some seeds. thanks looking forward to receieving them. will keep u posted when they get here.
very nice!
thanks CC, it is big like a platter LOL!!!
my red gets that big but not my pink, but I have some babies with buds, love big blooms!
MaVie, I can tell you are very happy and excited and I don`t blame you. It is simply beautiful.
Thank Mary :)! today, it is still as beautiful as it was yesterday! no sign of fading at all!
Real pretty, MaVie.
Indeed they are Roz :)! if lucky enough, i will try to save some seeds or start cuttings.
MaVie, I thought hibiscus blooms only last one day??? Mine only last for a day!!
Crested...BABIES??? Hibiscus makes babies??? You mean like cannas do??? And you can break them off and move them so they can make their own babies when they grow up, then have your favorite hibiscus' everywhere you want them??? Those kind of babies?? I haven't had any of my hibiscus for very long, maybe a month! Please let me know?
well this one only folded up last night. but was lovely while it lasted.
any plant can have babies or clones from seeds, to propagating through cuttings and even dividing rhyzomes. depending on the type of plant.
Oh, I love plants that do that!!!! Very cool, MaVie!!
Meiyu,my babies are rooted cuttings.......
Hmmmm...I might have to try that!!!
