Blue X Yellow=Blue right?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

This is the greenest bud I've seen. The corolla that's just peeking out is so green and if blue and yellow = green, there is blue in there somewhere don't you think? OK, I admit it, I've been in the brug patch too long. It's just killing me waiting on this seedling to open.

Oh goodie - are we pulling up our lawn chairs to watch Goltraum open?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

This isn't Gold Traum, it's not this far along yet. This is Charles Grimaldi X EP.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Yep Cala, I think I see a touch of blue.(as I go out on my deck to sniff the Brugs again)

FSH, TX

I see a dab of versicolor genes in that one, but its not pure.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm excited,I have 2 of those that have y'd.Can't wait to see yours to get a preveiw of what mine might be

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Cala . . I am anxious to see that bloom also. I don't think the excitement of seeing something new will ever end and I believe it is partly that good feeling that keeps us going thru the heat, bugs, rain, sleet, snow and lots of work.!! Keep us posted.

FSH, TX

Cala, shame on you. You posted the cross while I was trying to decifer the cross. Now, I have to admit...this one has me in suspence as I suspect it has the potential to make me weep with joy. In other words, you have me in suspence.

FSH, TX

Come on now, I want to see its true color....is it a carrot red? Post it now...Please....

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

You might have a real pretty baby soon. Can't wait to see.

FSH, TX

Well, lets just say I wish I had made this cross. Of course, if she has a few more ready to bloom....

FSH, TX

Okay, just had to add...if its possible I want dibbs on one of those anthers or a cutting when the time comes. I have a feeling this one is going to be special.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

a blue brug??? that would be stunning in a yellow brug bed!!!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I am excited too, Cala. I was thinking about making this cross also.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I'm up already, going to head down to the greenhouse to check on it. I have a few more with Y's and a half dozen with buds. A few of Eric's crosses have Y's too. Between this one and Monika's Gold Traum cross, I don't get any work done!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I'm hoping you get something beautiful. I'm sitting on the edge of my seat here.

(Zone 6a)

I hope it is a mint green colored bloom:)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

so what happened cala?? I do not see another thread from you and it is hours later now. And where did Liz's picture go of her new brug baby?? I feel like I am missing out here.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

she's probably at work

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

oh, I guess she doesnot have a job like mine.....she actually has to show up...LOL

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Kell, when you're the owners wife you get to go in late, but you do sometimes have to show up and actually do something, lol.
It's still green!! I must have looked at that flower a hundred times. It's sticking out more now, but still green as an apple. I have a feeling this is gonna take a few days!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

and you get paid whether you show up or not.............. sounds like a great deal to me................

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Paid??? What's that?? But I do have perks, I can order tropicals at wholesale prices, use the company credit card and usually DH doesn't have a fit cause I just say "plants for the greenhouse".

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Cala, That sounds like a dream job to me.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Wanna trade jobs? Just for a week or so....Buy plants with no questions asked.........Dream come true!

FSH, TX

Cala, just joking...Promise I won't come by and steal any pollen if you post a picture of this one again...pretty please?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I was so disappointed when I went to the greenhouse today and saw that this one is white. It's got a white skirt, but the tube is still green as a gourd.Do you think it will change?
We had a storm last evening that broke three buds off this one. It broke several brugs, but didn't hurt Pink Beauty and it's the tallest one I have.

FSH, TX

Don't base too much on the first color you see. I've had a few I've liked that were white the first bloom and a few I've liked that have always bloomed white. Please post a picture next time it blooms regardless.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

OK, it's got more little buds coming on.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

wonder if I'll get the colored one from this cross you made!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I hope someone gets a colored one!! I'm as bad with white as Kell is with Pink.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Fingers crossed for you. How many seeds did you get and who has them? Someone has a 'blue' brug with your name on it.

FSH, TX

I say post one for us so we can see its shape. This way others can have a hybrid to look at to compare to full versicolors. Its a very good representation of a mixed hybrid for those having trouble with id's. I have trouble with a few of them. Especially those arborea x ...crosses.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Liz, these seeds are all over the world!! I didn't keep up with all the people I sent them to. I'm doing better this year with my good crosses. I was so new at hubridizing and it was before I met Monika.

FSH, TX

Well Cala,
I can assure you that someone out there has some very beautiful hybrids from you for sure. That was a most excellent cross you made.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I made it again this year as well as Whiskers to EP. I've already planted lots of the seeds from that cross and I'm not giving these seeds out to just anyone.

FSH, TX

I would have used Jessie Noel, but needless to say I think that cross is going to be exceptional as well. I think you have a gift for hybridizing with all the crosses you pick Cala.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

More luck as to what's blooming. I used Butterfly pollen on Jesse Noel as well as L'Amour pollen.

FSH, TX

Oh, now I am envious.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I'll save you some seed.
