'Virgo' just opened. Really pretty with its pink throated white flower.

Hey, Abutilon, are there certain cannas that do better in extreme heat than others?? I want to plant some around the pond, but they'll get no relief from my hot Texas sun, like the ones in the front who don't suffer through the afternoon sun. Start with the cheaper varieties PLEASE!! Hehehehe....that was from Peter and his credit card!! LOL!!

Thanks, MaVie!! I can't wait til I can manuever my mouse better and look through these!! Peter, my hubby, the RN, just bandaged up my right hand now cuz I accidentally scratched the pockets of puss and broke 'em wide open...ouch! He hid my gardening tools, too...hehehe!!! Says I'll get it infected . Well, can't type one-handed too well, so I'll have to wait til he goes back to running the other nursing home and I can take my bandages off!!! Hahahaha!!!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

hey, that is no joke. i know u have a good sense of humor, but it really is dangerous if u got ur wound infected. better take care of it. there is still plenty of time to grow plants. hold off everything temporarily till u're completely healed. take care.

Meiyu..............cannas do very well in Texas!! :D

The good news is, Peter dug up some gifts for you and um, I think it's GingerLily(?) first, and my boy took me to mail them off today. You guys should be getting them on Wednesday!!
"Eyes"...do they all grow the same, none do better than the others here?? None of my neighbors' cannas look as good as mine, either cuz they're in full sun (?) or they don't have DG friends to teach them how to be great gardeners...(?)

*Gasp* What a flower! *pant, pant*

Water Cannas do much better in the Houston, Corpus, Longview areas than farther north. Doesn't mean you can't have marginals, just means you need to shelther them, and keep them in pots and provide plenty of water. No Canna needs more than 4 good hours of sunlight, but the marginals do better with that amount or filtered sunlight.

hey, rik...i'm ordering 6 of the zodiacs. wait a bit, and i'll have babies, then you can send me some more of them vines!!!!

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

It's a deal! You can start picking out your vines now!
(Give me some notice so I can get them going for you.)

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

rik, remember i'm a newbie...not just to dgs, but to gardening in general!!!! you pick. start with something that smells good and has a long blooming period.
abutilon...i sent an email to the ordering people at the canna sight before leaving town, telling them what i wanted and asking how to get my credit card info and whatever to them. they need a shopping cart like other online shopping websites, but i couldn't find one, so i clicked onto the envelope at the bottom. i haven't heard anything, and even sent a second message...oh, yeah, i forgot, its the weekend! i don't have a real job, so i never know what day of the week it is...sorry! i'll wait patiently...or try! i don't know how patient rik will be, however!!! hahaha!! rik, have you seen the whole collection???? omg!!! i think i ordered sagitarrius, capricorn, virgo, scorpio, leo, ...oh, i forgot... i ordered 6 of them, though. my cannas in front have each had about 10 babies since the end of April, so lets hope these will make that many before the first frost. then i'll cut them back and send you a baby for a vine. or two, or three...i'll send you pics when they bloom, and you can decide which ones then.
