Another greenhouse question

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

We got our greenhouse insulated on the north wall and north facing roof. My Spouse was talking with the guy that did the insulation (it's expandable foam, we put on 2 inches) and he told us that you could paint the foam with silver paint to help reflect light. Would this be a smart thing to do? I had a gardenia plant that was sitting about 3 feet away from my house and the leaves got sunburned, it looks horrible right now. (yes, I moved it) I'm thinking if we paint both the wall and ceiling with that stuff, it will reflect too much and burn any plants that are near to the wall. Also, he wanted me to ask if any of you have ever had any experience with that "foil bubble, bubble, foil" curtain. He's considering that where the insulation is to help hold the heat in at night. Any feedback/opinions/ or real life adventures you can give me in regards to those couple things are greatly appreicated. I know I probably should post this on the g'house forum, but I know quite a few of you have greenhouses, and this forum has alot of activity. Thanks alot. AZ

Wish I could help you Anna but I'm not familiar with the materials you are using. I just have a 12 x 20 GH covered with GH plastic. Maybe Cala or one of the others will jump in.

Winter light isn't as strong as summer light, so the silver reflecting paint shouldn't be a problem in the winter, but might be in the summer. I haven't used the bubble curtain, but one large greenhouse(19acres under one roof)uses it to separate the sections(one section needs to be cooler or warmer than another) and it looked like a good idea.

Hi,
Everything I have read says not to use silver paint, but to use white. The silver actually absorbs more light than the white, so the white reflects more light to the plants. I have the silver bubble insulation on the north side and roof of my gh, even left it this summer. I think it helps a lot in the winter and I have not light burned anything.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips.......I'll pass them on to the Spouse. Maybe more will jump in and give their experiences. All thoughts are appreciated.
