I love these plants. Here is another of my seedlings. The spots on the leaf below the flower are pollen grains.

These are very pretty plants. I don't see them around here, I wonder why. Any reason why they wouldn't grow here in Florida?

Cala, they're hardy here, even in pots. Are they hardy for you?

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Floridian, I am in 9b also, I can grow these. They need protection from the evening sun but do well.

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

Wonderful - Thanks Lisa

Yes, they are hardy here. They die back to the ground usually in January but come back in March or April.

Cala, think it's too late to put mine in the ground??

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

That is a nice shade of pink Cala. Really pretty. :)

TiG, you're warmer than we are, but it's so dry, that might have an impact on their survival. If you plant them, just mulch really good around the base with chopped leaves this fall.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I might go ahead and keep watered, and take cuttings just to be sure.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Definitely take cuttings.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

tig, put a bunch of pine straw around them. They will also bloom in the house. Mine bloomed right after Christmas last year.

Annie - I will send you one with the honeysuckle. You might want to check Home Depot, they have all colors at least up here, ours still had some the other day. They usually start selling them around Jul time here.

I have some in pots and some in the ground, seems like the ones in the ground do better.

Calalily, I think I have that flower. Is it a shrub? Do the flowers hang at a 45 degree angle and never completely open, but look like little hibiscus-like bells? I have one trained into a tree, but it's not blooming right now or I'd send a picture of it. It's almost ready to re-bloom since I moved it and almost killed it. Now it's growing under my oaks and out of the hot sun, and is very, very happy.

Meiyu, they do like a bit of shade during the heat of the day. I've found that they are thirsty plants too. Yes, they hang at an angle, don't ever really "open" except for one orangey one I have, it opens out flat. They make great standards. I like to braid 3 together.

I'll have to send out a pic when my buds bloom so you can tell me if that's what I have for sure. This is pretty neat...I'm slowly learning what all the flowers that didn't die on me are. And actually, you know what? I'm starting to not kill them anymore either!!! I haven't killed a single plant since I've joined DGs...a week, now, maybe two?
