Shredded White

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Thanks to Brugie I've had my first experience growing the Shredded White. I've watched it for four days and it's still wadded up.Kinda reminds me of my Tacca(Bat Plant) LOL.
Does it ever unwad or will it always look like this?

Snow,
Mine unwads....Alice said it looks like rags hangs from the plant. LOL

Snow, mine doesn't unwad much more than that, and Alice is right, they look like rags.

I just went out on the deck and unwadded it. It does look like hanging rags. LOL It's certainly different.

They eventually do unwad by themselves. It was the mess they left that I didn't like. The smell was great. I can't believe that thing has bloomed already for you. My plant was new this spring. Must have cut it in the right place. :-)

Shirley, It's turning into a beautifully shaped plant and has several buds. Must be your green thumb.

Snow, mine have been unwadding a litle better lately, open a little more. i actually have a little critter pollinated bud! first one i've seen on it. have no idea if it will stick. i really like its fragrance too, almost got rid of it, guess i'm glad i didn't.

This is the first time I have seen the pods on a shredded white it's kind of neat, I hope it opens for you soon.

Arlene, I looked until my eyes were crossed and I could'nt find the anthers or stigma. I know they're in there somewhere. LOL

Snow, I'm glad you like it. Just didn't do anything for me. My mother plant was a nice shaped plant. Kind of like my E. Pink or V. Orange plants. Think this plant would actually be best in a pot in our climate. It was pretty low to the ground.

It will stay in the pot at least through the winter. I'll have to put it where I can watch it bloom as it has lots of buds on it.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I think it looks neat even though it is not open.
