Can I join your club, please?

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Can I join your club and be a part of the clan now, or am I still just a wee lucky fellow to have bought a Brug and he flowered ;-)

The garden centre from which I bought this plant claimed he was from the Herrenhauser Gardens in Hannover, well I really couldn't care if he came from Babylon, just as long as he grew. They also claimed that his real name is Brugmansia versicolor 'Aphrodite', but you are going to tell me the real name aren't you? ;-)

This is the first time I have ever seen one of these plants in bloom, never mind grown one.

Pic 1. Here you can see the vein running along the pink….. oh sorry, that's my arm… here is a view of… oh well who am I telling here lol

Pic 2. During our storm and flood, he took a real thrashing, and was bent over at 90°, sadly he didn't quite make it back up to vertical, but he at least tried!!! The branch leaning out to the right, just broke off a couple of days later, this is now in two pots and growing nicely.

Pic 3. Here is my harvest of flowers from him this year, I was told yesterday that he may blossom again, but I can't see any signs of any wee buds coming out, so he'll probably just remain, (as my son called him), 'The Triffid' until next year.

*pwoud…. Oh yes vewy pwoud!!!*

it's a beautiful brug, and how lucky you are to be able to buy in Germany. You might contact monika, she has the best there are.

Wintermoor, lovely lovely Brug. You are indeed lucky to be over yonder where the exotic ones are....lol, we always want what is inaccesible dont we?
And it looks like your bug bounced back just fine after the storms. glad to see that you are now part of "the" in crowd.....lol - arent we just a goofy bunch?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Maybe we'll have to put your house on our brug pilgrimage to Germany. You wouldn't mind putting up 20 or 30 people would you? No? We really are more normal than we sound. Just a merry band of brugsters. We even have a minstrel - Kell. Barb will bring the black velvet.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

count me in on the pilgrimage...

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Oh totally nuts Pebble lol

Brugmansia, I must contact Monika sometime and ask if I can visit her 'Allee', it looks absolutely... well, absolute ;-)

Do you know if the name is correct? Somehow I don't trust these garden centres, although this one is the best in Germany IMHO.

Thanx folks

Wintermoor

I'm coming too.

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

tiG: Ludger has also lots of brugs, and I don't know who is closer to me Monika in Herbstein, or Tonny in Denmark.

LIZ: C'mon over, I'll put up as many as I can, then we can all visit Tonny, Ludger, then Monika. I really think we should ask though.... don't you ;-)

Brugcrazy: Yep the more the merrier, er... or something

but if you're looking to buy, I'd start with monika before anyone!!

Wintermoor - we'll virtually show up. Kell is a wizard at beaming us wherever we want to be with her computer skills.
She's already taken dave and tiG to Monika's. Virtual guests are the best kind - you don't have to put out fresh towels. LOL

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Please, Please, don't leave me behind. I want to go too. I promise I'll be good. (yeh sure I will).

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm not familiar with the brug name you mentioned, but it is pretty. Maybe Monika can look at it and tell you if you have the real thing. Glad to have you here. I love virtual tours, but would really like to do the real thing one day and actually visit Germany. My daughter was in the military in Germany for three years and I lost my chance for a visit after she came home. The pictures she sent were great. Seems like there would be endless numbers of places to visit.

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Me, too, me, too!!! By the way, how did you put 3 pictures in one post? I thought you had to do each separately! And, actually, I didn't even know you could add photos to this forum...how do you do that?
