Had a bad dream!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Last night I dreamed that I was trying to lable all my Coleus for our swap. Careful as I might be, all the leaves fell off! I felt terrible - how could I ever root them again in time for the secret swap?? I still don't know exactly how I will lable them anyway. Do you think I have plants on the brain???

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i reckon you do. i used to have dreams about brugs not growing........

I use to think I was dreaming the same thing Arlene...till I woke up and found out they really were not growing....Not a dream.....

Azalea,it gets really bad when you start trying to plant stuff in your dreams and wake to find you've dug holes in the pillows

Hey - now this thing is getting to be more real than a dream!! I have one batch of cuttings in a clear glass that is rooting well. Another larger batch in a plastic margerine container, these are not doing so hot - a bunch of them are starting to rot!! I am faithfully changing the water everyday, but every day now I see more rot and the leaves are dropping too! Got to send out my swap soon, or they will not be recognizable.

CC you are too much. Azalea, I find that the light they get in a clear glass helps them to root. I never try to root anything in a container that the light can`t shine through. Hope this helps.

I think you are right & sort of figured out all by myself that this might be the problem. So I divided the large bunch & put what was salvageable into 2 glasses. They seem to be ok now - thanks.

I too lost some coleus cuttings in a big tray. I use vermiculite and did everything exactly the same, except one tray rotted. It started in one corner and in two days, covered the whole tray. I tossed them all.

I haven't had any luck rooting in water. I did mine in vermiculite and just misted them every so often. The water cuttings weren't doing a thing.
