A small aurea like flower, somebody has to get used to. This sister to Fandango and Anouschka is slow growing but a heavy bloomer.
Baby Bolero
I give up! I'll take one of everything you've got! I'll mortgage the house.
I love that ,how small is the flower? Is the plant small too or regular size
I'll bet thats one Erics gotta love!
The plant is small and fits to the size of the flower. Its sister, Baby Doll is a much more vigorous grower which I think, is not too good.
Its a very special shape and also the color remind me of the yellow/ golden aurea. Yesterday I pollinated the double x candida with pollen from Ludgers aurea. I hope for something like Baby Bolero, but a bit larger. Maybe on the size of the x candida? I also crosses Apricot Queen to the same x candida and hope for some double white turning apricot. However, chances are, that (if it keep the fruits on and there are seeds inside), that they all come out white.
It depends on the genes in the double white. Its always a game, a very nice one and you can come addicted to breeding. It has not lost its fascination for me yet!
I hope you never loose your fascination for it because the world would be loosing a very gifted hybridizer
You also are an insperation to us all!
Monika . . you have so many beautiful hybrids. I don't know if we will ever catch up with you when it comes to creating such beauty.
Monika, its one of the usual doubles sold in DK garden centers, probably Tutu or one of the ones looking close to it. Some flowers has a kind of fat tube, whereas others have a slender regular tube. They also differ from flower to flower how long the second corolla protrude from the first or outer. I think I would lie, if I said I don`t like the game or that I not already is addicted to it. *smile* I am crossing like a madman and even if half of the pods fall of again I happily re-make the crosses. I don`t know, if I need urgent help from the Brug breeders Anonymous or from a lot of nice people, that would like to grow out lots of these seeds. *lol* Did you also cross anything with anything, when you first started and maybe crossed all too many? I know, that you breed golal oriented now, but did you do that always? *lol*
I could get used to it real fast, beautiful!
Tonny, my first starts were seeds out pods, where insects made the pollination. I got quick tired of it, as most of them were either white or pink suaveolens or creamcolored aurea x suaveolens -type hybrids. Then I started to pollinate with brain (at least, thats what I thought) and still didnt have better results. I learned, that color must be crossed to color to get more colored offspring. It is important to know, which genes will dominates to breed sucsessful.

I am in awe. So much beauty from all your hybridizing. It's truly amazing.
I love the color and the size, but then I like smaller flowers.
Now that's odd as I just saw a posting somewhere with Bolero on it and could not find a picture and today you post one. I like this little flower and its a flora plena also. Very nice vibrant yellow.
