opened today and has six tendrils. It looks like it will be an off white or very pale yellow. Will wait and see what the color is tomorrow. The flower is not very big for a plant that is nine ft high. This plant was grown from a seed planted 12/29.

Don't be too quick to judge the color. Give it a few more flushes at least.

snow, forgive me but i have to say "HOLY COW!" 9 feet!!!! Eric is right about color changes too.... i guess it's too tall for a side shot, do you have to get on a ladder to take pics?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Holy Cow, what are you feeding those babies??? It's definitely different.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Congrats Snow!! I hope it turns out to be a keeper. What are the leaves like on this one?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Arlene, I climbed on a step ladder to get the picture.I thought I'd wait till tomorrow in case it changes color to get a side shot.
Eric, this might be the first and only flush this year as our growing season is coming to and end up here shortly.

cala, this is the big tall one that was next to the GH. I think the heat wave we've had gave it another growth spurt as it is now higher than the GH. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow.
Poppysue, the leaves on this plant are very big. This is from one of the seeds we ordered from LBJ.

Snow,you gotta get a 2 story GH!

Snow,
This year you'll have tons of your own seed to grow. There's something special about growing your own crosses. Placing the pollen...waiting for the pod...and later the flowers....

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

CC, I think you're right. LOL. I do think I will need to think seriously about getting another one that is a little bigger and definitely higher in the near future. DH is trying to think of something that he can attach to the side of the house and keep it heated in the winter for the Brugs.Don't know if it will happen this year though.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Snow, you need our garden center greenhouse, it's 14 or 16 feet in the very center. I want it for my Jungle House but DH won't budge, said something about needing it for "real" crops, can you believe that?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Man, 9 ft. is way taller than any of mine. The bloom looks like it will be a nice one when it is opened more. Kind of hard for me to see much color since my monitor is about shot. Remember, I couldn't see the bear. Better get a new system up and running before brug contest judging. Back to the brug, I won't get on a step ladder for anything. Height scares me to death. You are a brave one!!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Can you imagine how big it would get in a 2 story GH!!!I'd build one just to see.

Mine is 12' in the center, don't think any of mine will get that big.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Eric, I'm very excited about some of the crosses I've made and it's so much fun watching those pods grow. You're right. There is something special about it.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

CC, Don't bet on it.I didn't think mine would out grow the GH this past spring either.I thought I was going to have to cut holes in the roof of it. LOL

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Cala, that size GH would be a dream come true. Can't imagine your DH thinking that "real crops" could possibly be more important than Brugs.LOL.
Shirley, I'm afraid of height too. Anything higher than the first or second ladder rung and it's DH's job.
