Good afternoon all. It's very nice out (70's) - feels more like Septembeer but sounds like 90's are on the way again. Yesterday it was in the 60's. Heard on the news that Kansas City (only 3 hours - Lisa - notice I said hours not miles) had temps in 90's. They FINALLY got all our corn chopped and under the tarp. Men are so funny - they were so proud how nice it looks. (It's a big hill under a piece of black plastic!) They started working on the neighbors corn today. It's a good thing dh is not too busy at work and has a lot of comp time and vacation built up.
Julia is the secretary of the group that sponsors the cattle point shows. The show season has now come to an end and people are supposed to be organizing the prizes, banquet, etc. No one seems to be doing this. So Julia and I, having very little patience, took it over. Several people thought it would be great to have embroidered captains chairs. We thought we were doing so well because we found the prettiest chairs at K-Mart. Well after we purchased all they had and lugged them out to the car and into the house, we realized they will not work because the embroiderer cannot take them apart. So now we have to haul them all back into K-Mart. Target has some that come apart so we will buy them there. Between all the work and the bickering among the so called adults, I AM SO GLAD THAT THIS IS OUR LAST YEAR FOR THIS!!!!
It's a good thing that Woody, one of Julia's show steers, is too fat and lazy to go anywhere as "someone" forgot to tie him up today. He just lumbered around in the barn and knocked over a fan and ate the rest of the calves feed and laid down. It was funny though because the moment I walked into the barn, I could tell the way the rest of the calves looked at me that someone was in trouble.
EvaMae - I bet you are so glad the fair is over. I bet you are tired. Our fair starts this weekend and ends on labor day weekend. I really don't even enjoy the fair that much anymore as the Nebraska fair has become so commercial and doesn't seem to be geared towards the agricultural segment anymore. I have heard from friends who show sheep that Missouri has a nice fair.
Better go - you all take care.
