What do you think of this Stawberry Pot. Saw it at a nursery when I was up visiting in Chicago. Cheryl took me there.
Hey Poppysue how about this!
Dee - did you take it home? That's one cool looking pot. Mine came from wally world for 9.99 -lol. It's hard to imagine what could be planted in those small holes but I'd love to see it with plants growing in it.
Wow WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! That sure is some pot!!! Between Jody and I we can have that baby filled up with mini hosta in a NY minute!!!!!!!
sue
Sorry to disappoint you guys, the picture it deceiving. This baby is 5 ft tall and about 3 ft across. Just thought it was neat looking. They didn't have a price tag on it and I was afraid to ask.
Come on!It will fit LOTS of plants!
can you imagine trying to move that sucker???
5 ft tall! Holy Cow! ;o) I bet that baby was expensive. It would be neat made into a fountain with water trickling down the sides.
Dee - I can see you jogging through an airport with that under your arm!!
It would make a great fountain with PVC pipe in the middle, plants on the outside and a cascading fountain of some type. Gosh its a lovely pot. Never seen one that big and the price tag was probably as big as the pot.
Oh, I want, I want, I want!!! What nursery in Chicago was it? Maybe they have a website. Although I may change my mind after seeing a price and shipping amount, but I have a perfect spot for such a thing.
I will try to find a receipt of the nurseries name on it. You would probably need a crane to move that thing. I am 5'6" and it came up to my shoulders. They had just got it and had not filled it with dirt or anything. Said they didn't have any plans to either, just a show piece for the time being. This was solid terra cota. If I could have picked it up I would have, but figured it would break the shocks on the truck.
Don't worry about finding the receipt. I'm sure it's not shippable anyway and I probably couldn't afford it either! LOL! But I'm thinking that learning how to do pottery might be in my future.
I saw one not near that big and they wanted $150.00 for it.
Dee,
they probably didn't have enough dirt to fill it!!!
It would weigh a ton empty, and full???? The mind boggles.
Lovely pot though, isn't it a strawberry pot?, that's what they call them here.
All the best
Wintermoor
Wintemoor, Strawberry Pots is what I have always called them too. I tried to jiggle it just to see if it was as heavy as it looked and it wouldn't jiggle..Looked like it would take one of those bobcat bucket's full of dirt to fill it.
It would definately be a conversation piece out in the yard though!!
Yes it would be a conversational piece, especially when you're trying to plant something at the bottom openings... the whole body in the pot, and only legs sticking out..... ehhh... that's enough of that Wintermoor!!!
*scared at the thought*
Wintermoor
Now Wintermoor, just maybe I need to go back and try to get it. Who would ever think of looking in there for a missing person. With legs sticking out you could fill the shoes with hens and chicks.
Cool! I like that. So many possibilities!
A local nursery has a couple of those planted. Theirs are taller than me. I think she said they sell the empty ones for around $350??? That's delivered. They have it on a pallet and use a forklift to load and unload it. They have one planted, they used grass in the top and cascading and bushy plants in the holes, it's gorgeous and I want it badly!! I am friends with a girl that works there. She does tofa, we decided that if we could get the frame built, we could make one. She thought if we made it in two sections(plus the base which is removable in the one they have) that we could handle it better. I forget how many bales of Pro-Mix she said it took to fill it. I asked if they would sell the planted one, she said she had to ask, it had a broken lip on one of the holes.
Cala - you should get a picture of the planted one the next time you go there. I bet it's beautiful!
That is one gorgeous pot. What I would give to have that (just like the rest of you on here right). Would have to dream for a long time though. Don't know if I could ever justify paying the price they would want. I bought a small one about 10 years ago (about 18"-24") & it cost me $75. Mind you I can leave it outside all year round, even in our cold -45 winters. Just think of all the plants you could put in that & it sure would put on a show.
