Love this red.

It's so full of buds, seems like I have blooms on this one every day now. Of course it helps that it's taken over one whole end of the Jungle House. It was growing out the vent and up on the roof.

Cala which one is this? I love the bright reds. I had Passiflora sanguinolenta open today for the first time. Its a small pink flower.

Wow a brilliant red, just beautiful.

Poppysue, I saw your post in the PDB. I just love sanguienta, it's been blooming all summer here. Do you collect passifloras? This one is vitifolia, I took some cuttings today, LMK if you want one. Do you collect passifloras? I have a few rooted.

I have a few - mostly from Tim and a couple that I started from seeds. I seem to kill the red ones!! I've tried a couple from Tim but I can't get them to live. Hibiscus is going to send me some this fall for a trade. I'll try again & hopefully at least one will live!

I got the Red Inca from Kartuz. Do you have that one? It's hardly grown an inch. I put it in the ground and I think that was a mistake. I should have kept it a pot so I could baby it.

Poppysue, I keep my special ones in 12" hanging baskets. I planted a few in the ground, they were slower to take off. I don't have Red Inca.

Calla, do you think blooms on Vit. and Coccinea are really
different? Looks like only way to tell them apart, is the leaves?? Ask Tim??

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I haven't seen coccinea in real life bloom. Mine didn't make it thru the winter. It was dormant and I kept it too wet.

Think I should dig this Red Inca up and put him in a pot? Will it survive the transplant? If I can... I'll send the plant to you so you can get him to bloom. I know he's not gonna here.

Poppysue, try not to break the roots. I'll put it in the Jungle House for you if you want. I'm fixing to take a caerulea alba out(got too many of them) so there will be a spot for it.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Okay. I think I should be able to get the whole root ball. I think our ground is just too cold for them to take off and grow. I'm gonna send you the Ocre brug too. It's looking a lot better now that I've been spraying the mites.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

OK, I'll use some Avid on it if it needs it.

Cala, I don't have good luck getting Vitafolia to bloom much. Just a bloom or two now and then, but not day after day like most of the others do. What am I doing wrong? I like the idea of growing them in baskets and just, what? Wrapping them around and around? Curious mind here.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Brugie, Vitifolia seems to like it hot and a bit on the dry side(but not to wilt). The ones in baskets are hanging down mostly. They are hanging on a bar that I can just reach to hang the hanger over and the plants reach the floor. Some stray branches reach up or across, but they aren't hard to keep separate. Much easier than trying to make them go "up" since I think they like to sprawl on the ground in nature. My friend Ruby has one that blooms all summer, mine bloomed in early summer then rested and now it's loaded with buds. It's about 3 or 4 years old, so maybe yours just need to "age" a bit, lol.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Mine has quit bloming now - is this normal??

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Cala. It is a nice big plant now, so I'll just give it some time.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Azalea, give it some time, it'll bloom again.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

That is beautiful. Now I know I gotta go work in Susie's Greenhouse.
