Aurea Pikn.I hope.

Here are two pictures of the Aurea Pink. I have compared it to the Isabella and Butterfly and the pink color goes further up the corolla then on Isabella and Butterfly. Does anyone know if Butterfly is an Aurea Hybrid? Aurea Pink is also a larger flower then the other two.

Maybe Dave can change Aurea Pikn to Aurea Pink...still can't spell.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

you can email and ask. I love this one!!! it looks very dark, hope mine blooms like that!

OK tiG. I thought the Aurea Pink was solid pink...that's what I get for thinking. LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

yes butterfly is aurea hybrid. that is way too pretty!!!

Arlene,
they both have long whiskers...this makes them very pretty.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh Gloria, that is sooo pretty!! I like the way you did your picture.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i like the way it hangs down. reminds me of rosabelle pics.

Is this a pure aurea or an aurea hybrid?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Great looking bloom! You're getting really good at the multi-pix.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

What a nice strong pink band. I love the shape. It puts Isabella to shame.

FSH, TX

Brugcrazzy-as far as I can tell it has aurea in it, but its not pure aurea. Very beautiful. Isabella on the other hand...well I must confess I have never had another hybrid that bloomed as much or as often as Isabella. Isabella is a great seed setter as well. Wish I knew who hybridized Pink aurea.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Love the color and shape of this one.

I don't know how pure this is...I believe it came from Eric by way of Arlene...is that correct Arlene?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, no, not by me. i don't have this one. i was trying to look at the calyx, is it one slit?

Arlene,
I'll have to go and look...let ya know later. I wonder where I got this one? Does any one have a true Aurea Pink?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, i got an aurea cutting from eric with my first cuttings from him, and everything but isabella died, due to my ignorance!!! even though he told me how to do it!!!!! that's when i started rooting EVERYTHING in soil.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Glory, this is not a pure aurea. It has suaveolens genes.
Butterfly is not a aurea hybrid, it has aurea and versicolor genes but no suaveolens.

Monika,
Do you have any idea if this flower has a name? I sure would like to have a true Aurea Pink....any offers. LOL

Arlene,
There is only one split.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, don't versicolors and candida's have the one split? that's why i was kinda wondering.
Monika, so an aurea hybrid is only an aurea X aurea? i had always thought butterfly was an aurea hybrid. same for her sisters?

Arlene,
yes, they both only have one split.

tiG,
You might want to remark the Aurea Pink I sent you.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, i had teased you about a pink candida, however i don't think i sent it to anyone unless by mistake. mine is getting ALL day sun. i thought it was candida double white, leaves just exactly like the DW, and an extra so i put it out there to see what would happen. the flowers seem to have a hard time coming out and the leaves do not at all look candida anymore, but I SWEAR THEY DID!!!!! anyway, wonder if that is it. did the leaves ever look candida?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

check this pic, there is another full tree pic, gorgeous, is my wall paper.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Very pretty bloom, whatever it is. You grow some really nice brug Gloria.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I dont know the name, Glory. I would send you aurea cuttings but how?

arlene, this goes for all hybrids. a aurea hybrid must be aurea x aurea, a versi hybr. versi x versi and so on.

I always use Charleston and her sister Tiara as example. I am using the german definition now: a plant is female (she) and the result of a cross is offspring and sisters to each other, when there are more than one seedling. I hope, to make it understandable this way.

Charleston is classified by Preissel as a x candida flore plena and her sister Tiara as a versicolor flore plena.
The cross was x candida flore plena x versicolor Kaskade.
I cannot place two plants out of the same cross into two different categories.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

so do you place them as multi hybrids?? candida x versi ?

Monika,
It's a darn shame that you can't send me one. Is it ok to send pollen in the mail from Germany to the US without all that paper work? Maybe Cala can answer that question.

Arlene,
I do think I have what is supposed to be a Candida Pink...I'll have to look this evening when it's cooler outside. Brugman sent me some cuttings last fall..maybe that's where that Aurea Hybrid came from. The tag on the Aurea Hybrid says "Aurea Pink from Eric"....who knows. Maybe Brugman will show up and answer this question. I can't wait till later let me go see right now if I have that Candida Pink. LOL

Arlene,
I have one marked "Kyle Knight" Pink Candida...is that the one you have in that picture?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

that would be Kyle's Pink, one of the ones Eric released.

tiG,
Is Kyles Pink a Candida Pink...the leaves look nothing like my white Candida.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, kyles pink looks like a candida pink flower, but the leaves don't look candida. the one in the link was eric's pink candida that he did not hybridize. i am very curious about your plant in this pic with the calyx it has. it is very pretty.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Very, very pretty Gloria!!

"eyes"

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

so Glory, what are we changing the tag to??

tiG,
I have no idea.....I was kinda hoping Brugman would show up and he could let us know if this one came from him. I
guess for now it's just plain old Aurea Pink Hybrid.

Arlene,
The Brug in the above picture is very pretty but I guess it's just a matter of taste. I think I'd like to cross the Aurea Hybrid with Whiskers or one of her girls.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, i was just wondering if perhaps yours was the candida pink from eric, guess not!

Arlene,
I don't think so since I have the other one marked Candida Pink and the leaves are completely different on the Aurea Hybrid.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

sounds like a mystery! Very very nice though!
