Dee,

Now that is a nice surprise to come home to. What's the variety of the plant...looks like banana, but I can't tell which one.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

This isn't a banana, it is a ginger. I think it is a curcuma, but my aunt calls it a hidden ginger, which is understandable.

Oh my...I don't have gingers. I'm going to have to read up on these. Do you have any idea how to start the 'edible' gingers? I'd like to try some and see what I come up with.

That was a nice surprise.

Dee,
It's a Hidden lily Ginger
Curcuma petiolata

Edible Ginger...........go to your supermaket and buy some roots in the produce section. I did this and have a 3 ft. ginger plant from it.

"eyes"

eyes,
Has the ginger bloomed? How about posting a picture of it...I was wondering if that would work. We have a lot of Vietnamese stores here...maybe I need to go looking around in one.

Glory and Eyes,
I picked up 2 Taro, 3 ginger, and 4 Lotus tubers from the Chinese supermarket around the corner. It cost me less than $5. I'm potting them up tomorrow. They were soooooo cheap, how can you lose.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Dee, that's neat. have some i wonder if they will ever bloom.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Cut it out! what do they do with lotus tubers?Don't they have to stay moist?

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Arlene, where do you have them, mine get sun most of the day, and get watered everyday.
