Screen Problem

I was just about to click on a Forum when my screen got the wiggles, mainly on the left hand side, a bit like when you put a magnet near a TV (DO NOT PUT A MAGNET NEAR YOUR TV). Now I have gentle waves, almost flat but not quite - stationary waves, as in not-straight lines, not a constant moving pattern. I ran my anti-virus programme, and then turned the computer off, waited, and turned it on again. I've not had anything magnetic near the computer.

Will these waves go away eventually or do I have to take it to the repair people? Is it likely to be something hugely expensive?
