I have never grown calla lilies from seed & I'm just wondering am I doing it right!! I've had black calla seeds (about 24) buried in moist medium with tops showing for 2 weeks now under lights. When will they show signs of germination & what should I look for?? I'm really excited to have more of these & I don't want to loose them if I am doing something wrong!

I'd like the answer to the calla lillie as well. Also, have a second blooming on a peace and Lady Di rose, but all buds are tiny and a bit sickly looking. What can I do to make them georgous? This is our first year in South west Georgia and my first attempt at roses and I want them to make a positive statement!

This might be off topic . The colored calla lillies I have tried to have have such different corms. Are they derived from galdiolas? They look similar and fail storage similar also. What is the official name of this calla. Big white corms.

Bigcity,

I call it beautiful!

Sorry I can be of more help - how tall are they? I am starting some from seed that have verigated leaves like yours but mine seem shorter that yours.

Would you like to share when mine grow up?

Cheryl,
I would say these are around 3' high or so. I am assuming these are a plain/old fashioned variety. These are in more shade than sun, they get floppy later in the summer. I could trade some when you are ready.

Ok, help me out here. I did not know that you had to dig callas up in the fall. I have left mine in 2 winters in a row. They come back each year. I am in zone 5. What I do not have is alot of flowers. Lots of folliage, only a few flowers. I fertilized this spring with bulb tone. Would that be right? I will dig mine up this fall and store. Any info would be helpful. Kim.
