Hello farmers. Everybody must be either working or having fun! We got the last load of hay this morning, now have 25 tons in the barn. That is a good feeling. Hubby likes to have a full woodshed too, it is about half full now. We burn about 4-5 cords a winter. After fire season is over the woods will be open again and we can go get more.
I just got home from riding for almost 3 hours. Bullwinkle isn't too enthusiastic out there alone in the heat. I guess if I was a herd animal I wouldn't be either. My next endurance ride is Aug 31, so I need the option of taking either Bullwinkle or Breezy, depending on how hot the day is expected to be. Bullwinkle doesn't do as well on real hot days.
That big fire in southern Oregon/northern California is still burning after a month. They say it is the biggest one the state has ever had and it is only partially contained. I forget how many acres it has consumed, something like 86,000 I think. The fire line was 30 miles long on the advancing edge a few days ago. High winds in the area haven't helped.
Lenjo, I'm planning to be over in your area October 19th for an endurance ride near Mololla. That's not far away right? even with adding about 10 miles to get from town out into the boonies where the ride is. It would be fun to get to meet you.
There are plants to water and weeds to pull, so I had better get doing it. And my saddle to clean and saddle pad to wash again. I wash the saddle pad in the old wringer washer. Anybody else got one of those. Hmmm, the kitchen rugs need a trip through it too. We keep it out in the garden tool shed, I just roll it over near the door, fill it with the hose, drain it by gravity using another hose. It is green, the brand is Thor, and it was built in 1913, the same year my mother was born.
Have a great day everyone, count your blessings.
