I don't know what's up with losing buds. I know I've been losing the teeny ones, but this time I lost one 2" long on Dr D x ?. First bud. It was there yesterday, on the ground this morning. I'm so bummed! This one is in the ground, no bugs, not dry, fed but surely not overfed. I almost cried. I'd really looked forward to this one.
What can I look for, do, not do??? This is getting real old.
well poo :(
I am having that problem also, Tig. These brugs are sure doing weird unexpected things.

Well titled! Can't help you - wind?
awww tiG, I read about you losing buds earlier. That is odd, sorry I can't offer any suggestions.
My poor things have thrived on neglect I'm afraid. Between the drought and my being in and out of town... They are wilted to the ground by the time they get a drink and they haven't been fed since osmocote early this spring. They have rewarded my futile awful neglectful efforts towards them with lots of flowers though. Mabey you should try neglecting them a while.
Sorry you aren't getting to enjoy your brugs.
((((((((()))))))))
jody, you had to rub it in, didn't you????? LOL!!!!
tiG - I thought the same thing - LOL - doesn't seem fair does it?
at least someone is getting flowers!!! I had resigned to waiting for fall, but if the buds keep falling, there won't be anything to bloom then.
Sorry, I really wasn't trying to rub it in. Guess I just should have offered my sympathy and kept the rest to myself, LOL. But since I've already opened my mouth...my isabella you sent me last fall sits outside my front door. It has been absolutely wonderful! Thanks so much! I love opening the door, even in this heat :)
I know it's not the heat making the buds fall, we've had weeks now of 90-110* with high humidity.
Aww tiG, I feel so bad for you. You've worked so hard on your Brugs. Wish I had the answer to what's causing it but I'm afraid I don't have a clue.Hang in there. Maybe the cooler weahter will bring you lots of buds.
tiG ... if it is any consolation to u. i sprayed the falling buds with 50% water and alcohol with a drop of dishwashing soap. the caterpillars are gone. and buds are beginning to form, instead of falling off. lots of new buds too!
i doubt if it is the heat or wind. we are at the moment experiencing record breaking heat of 112 degs. these days. and constant strong hot winds also.
i am new to brug growing but very observant on daily basis. hope my 2 cents observation help some. i lurk a lot on this forum, trying to make sense on how to deal with my problems in growing brug.
thanks Cala for the tip/s. somehow some does not seem to make sense, but i try it anyway to see the end result against all odds that i have to deal with. glad to report they do work for me.
tiG, I was also disappointed today when the 3-4 inch bud on White Pearl X Big had fallen during the night. Now I will have to wait at least a month to see the possiblility of bloom on this plant. Yes, it has been a strange growing season for brugs. Hopefully fall will be great and next summer even better.
well, I'm going to have to get some alcohol then!!! maybe even some for me?? LOL!!!
ok tiG... i'll join LOL!!! i sure could use a stiff drink. i am bored. the heat outside is beginning to get to me, i have to stay indoors. watch Kelley jump in! LOL!!!!
using the alcohol spray, i've noticed lots of new tip growth in the process. the caterpillars age gone! goody goody gum drop! yippeee!!! thought to throw that in too.
