maybe this will work if I change the header.
Day 2 of brugman's cross. A beautiful clear white with to die for tendrils.
EKca1 -2
WOW!!!! he's gotta love that one!! I sure do.
There you go - just learned something - can't use the same header twice. This was taken in the evening - 8pm - smells wonderful.
Obviously different from E9. Brugman - can you fill me in on the cross?? I love it by the way and will definitely be keeping it.
I really like this one. It's beautiful.
I'm hoping he'll fill me in - I received a bunch with ?marks.
this one is so white! It must be fantastic at night. I love the tendrils. Liz how many brugs do you have??
Love those pure whites
I haven't a clue Kell - they're tucked in everywhere.
bump
Its clearly a hybrid involving versicolor, suaveolens, and aurea. If this one was from last years crosses, I'd say it was definitly from one of my Dr.Sues crosses. I wouldn't keep it though. Not fond of whites unless they are trully spectacular.
Eric, there is one thing special by it thoug. No green bands along the veins. All my whites have green veins, even Cumbaya, but this one have either almost not visible green lines or none. Close to pure white is special in my book. However, you have crossed, grown out and evaluated and I think you have seen a large part of the Brugmansia genepoles expression. :-)
Tonny,
Everyone has their favorites. I like small flowers for the most part and hence any white I am to love has to be very small and very prolific in its blooming patterns and floriferous to boot. Of course, having a strong sweet fragrance is one of the most important things to me as one can enjoy a brug without seeing it then. Citronella is one of my favorites...but of course I like a few other whites or almost whites as well. I would hate if everyone had the same taste as me as it would make for a boring uniform world.
if it was mine, I'd keep it!
Well I like it and I'm keeping it. So there.
Thanks again brugman.
I agree with you both, i have a similar one of brugman's seedlings from last year.
I agree with you Liz.That one's a keeper.
So - now that it's blooming - what would happen if I crossed it with EP?
if it kept that shape and got EP's color, wow!
Cool - I'm counting on it working and you guys growing it out.
we are all turning into johnny brug seeds...... we'll probably have more seeds than M-T this year.
I love it, especially those tendrils.
you're right Arlene - and we'll probably have ours labelled better.
Liz,
If you used Ecuador pink as the pollen donor I imagine you would get a very few colored ones, but mostly white. Still, I think its a worthwhile cross to make. The tendrils on that hybrid combined with Ecuador pink could through out a few surprises as well.
does the color from EP not come through very good?? what would be a better choice?
EP is excellent for color, but hybrids lacking color often through out mainly whites. I would expect a few light peaches from that cross though if Liz were to use Ecuador pink as the pollen donor.
and if they were then crossed with EP again?
Depends on what the seedling looked like and what you selected for. If your selecting for early bloomers, color, shape, etc...what type and shape....
Well - maybe I'll just leave it the way it is. I like it right now.
LOL Liz
Beauty.. so pure white...
