Oh NO! I am sorry to hear, that its the last in the season. Promise to enjoy any second with them you can and imprint both the look and smell in your memory to enjoy when winter comes. btw. Do you think you could make them bloom once more, if you put them in your GH?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Oh Snow, dig it up and put it in the GH for an extra month. I couldn't stand to think that I was on my last bloom flush right now. When do you get cold on a daily basis? Hope you are saving the pollen. My EP didn't have pollen since it was so hot.

Tonny, I may dig up a couple that I really want to see bloom either for the first time if they have buds already or ones that will bloom again. Shirley, our weather starts changing about the middle of Sept. I sat out on the deck tonight just looking at them in bloom and starting getting depressed thinking about them not being there in the yard soon and not having that beautiful scent drifting in the windows at night. How are we going to get through this winter with no blooms? :( :( :(

Take lots of pictures now to share during the winter. I don't even care if they are posted a second time. It is just nice to sit back and remember what it was like when the snow is flying and the furnace is eating up the checkbook.

Shirley, I have so many that are Y'ing or just starting to grow little buds. It's so depressing because I can't dig them all up and bring them in. I would need a commercial size GH for that. We have been trying to figure a way to keep the GH heated all winter but so far haven't come up with any plan to get the money to pay for it.Even thought of selling cuttings on Ebay but it just wouldn't be enough to pay for the heat.Guess I better start getting the sunporch ready and deciding which ones to keep and which ones are going.I have a lot of duplicates so it shouldn't be too hard to downsize.

snowhermit, when they die down, can you cut them down and mulch them and will they come back next year? or do you just take cuttings and restart from them next year? Mine are still small and not blooming yet. I got the cuttings from tIG but they have been really slow. I don't know what I'm doing wrong........

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

woodspirit, I have to either dig them up or take cuttings. Our weather gets too cold up here for them to come back even if heavily mulched. Sometimes our frost will go down three feet in the ground.
The only advice I can give you on your Brugs is to give them a big pot to grow in or plant in the ground, plenty of fertilizer and water and sunshine.Check to see if they are pot bound. That will keep them from growing.

Snow,
Have you considered cutting them back and just overwintering them in their dormant state? Selling cuttings on eBay is certainly a good idea. Anything that helps with the fuel bill would be great. Just get rid of any duplicates of the ones that have bloomed. Keep the ones that have not bloomed yet to see what you get.

You might be very surprised at how well you might do on eBay. Its certainly worth the effort and you don't have anything to lose.

Isn't that just the prettiest bloom?? I just love that one.

I love it too. Just beautiful.
