This plant is a bold statement in a garden. It gets quite tall. Very easy to care for and quickly multipies.
Common name: Canna Lily 'Durban (Tropicanna, Phaison)'
Family: Cannaceae
Genus: Canna
Species x generalis
Hi Kell,
My name is Kell.
I was directed to this thread
because I found some canna roots at a local tip.
And I wanted to know what they were.
Thank you for your help.
Hi Kell! LOL
If you got this particular canna, you are lucky. This one is just so pretty!
I`ll take a PIC. tomorrow Where I planted them.
What type of camera do YOU use?
I have a Canon Powershot SD500. But I am about to get a new one. I just can't decided which. LOL
I would think you would have to upload it just like you did this one. You can keep some in your Garden Journal I think but I do not think you can upload from there, but maybe you can. It is a lovely picture and your cannas are going to be gorgeous. Your yard looks pretty special! Does your horse try to eat any of your plants?
There is a barbed-wire fence 2 mtrs or 6 ft.
away from the garden.
My daughters horse is fed very well every day.
So she doesn’t need to steal my plants.
I`m going to get some of the green cannas from our local BUNNINGS.
I bet it will look great when you are all done.
I already have 10 Agapanthus at one end of the bed.
40 Hippeastras in the middle.
And now the 6 Cannas.
I will have flowers for a long part of the year.
I will post Pics as they Flower.
Kell
What zone are you in, Ginger? I love amaryllis. In fact I was potting some up today.
Here cannas spread so fast I hate to plant them in the gorund. Of course my yard is so small and yours looks huge.
I would love to see all your pictures as your garden blooms.
We dont have zones here.
I am 500 mls. south of the tropic of Capricorn.
I guess you would call that the tropics. We do any ways.
I will post lots of pics of my garden.
I have started growing tomatoes UP SIDE DOWN.
They hang out of pots at the bottom?
Kell, Your canna looks splendid against the Blue Atlas Cedar. Very complimetary.
Thank you so much Snowrose! I love this canna. Unfortunately there is a terrible virus, Canna Yellow Mottle virus, all over the world attacking canna and it ruins their looks. So I have stopped bringing any new ones into my yard. It is hightly contagious.

Kell (I keep wanting to call you Ginger, LOL), I just saw this huge display of this canna in a picture Rann posted. I thought you would enjoy seeing it.

I would love to see your upside down tomatoes. I grew over 40 kinds this last summer, all right side up! LOL
Thank you Kell, for pointing me in the direction of the hyperlink.
But because I am not a paid subscriber. I cant view this PIC.
This issue may change in the future.
As a born DANSKER I would have liked to see & read that.
That is disturbing about the 'Canna Yellow Mottle virus'
What does it actualy do to the plants?
