It's from the mixed seed from Eric, via Arlene. I love the way the edge folds back.
Eric's hybrid
Wow, that is kinda different. Pretty color.
Cala,
does that one have aurea in it? I'm trying to understand if its the aurea type hybrids that have horizontal type flowers.
Cala, I too have some of these of Eric's hybrids.
I sure like them...(Eric, thank you!!!!)
Lots of aurea in that one. Suaveolens shows through clear as well. Very beautiful indeed.
Eric, should I keep it?
Cala, I would keep that one for hybridizing. The way the edges go back and the angle is almost perfect. Just needs to widen up a bit and shorten a bit as well. Crossing her to Rosabelle would give her the wider look, but angle could be missing. Crossing to Butterfly would give you more of the angle, but perhaps a too thin look. Both crosses should be done or one cross to Rothkirch. Of course you could get lucky with either of them if you grew enough. I certainly wouldn't trash that one.
Eric, how about to L'Amour?
Perfect cross indeed Cala-bound to bring some good color with it as well. Just make sure L'amour is the pollen donor.
I know it might be tacky to bring up one of your own seedlings...but I've been thinking of this one here. Still think it needs to be crossed to L'amour though.
OK Eric, the next time it blooms I'll do that. I have pods on it now, but don't know what the bees crossed it with.
Bee's are running rampant this year. Found a few moths pollinating mine as well. Any idea what was blooming at the time. I keep thinking of a nice aurea type hybrid that folds back the way that one does with the deep veins and holds that angle. Dark pink to red is a must.
Aw Eric, the only thing close was an Isabella and an Ecuador Pink. I also had myriad white ones, hope it wasn't one of those.
I caught a sulfer butterfly going in for pollen off Butterfly the other day!
i like this flower a lot too.
Sure hope it was Ecuador pink.
Me too.
