Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello farmers. You must have all been busy this weekend. Karla was moving, what about everyone else, what did you do?
Our cold streak is gone, and we are back into the low 80's again. Breezy and I just got back from a nice ride in the hills. We saw a few deer, they just stood there nervously and watched us go by. That was it for wildlife except for birds. On the way home I saw a neighbor going for the mail on his 4 wheeler with his Border Collie riding on the platform behind the seat. When he was comming toward me the dog was peeking out around one side of him the tail was sticking out on the other side. Somebody is hauling cattle today, I saw 3 trucks and trailers go by, but I was up on the hill and couldn't tell who it was. I don't hear any cows bawling so I am guessing maybe they were just taking a shortcut over the hills to the valley.
My Saturday trip to the memorial for our friend was very good. We got an early start and were in Salem in time for lunch with our son and his girlfriend, then we all went to the memorial. It was held outside with a big pole and canvas shelter for shade, and with her flower beds all around, roses and lots of other flowers in bloom and a very nice rock garden on the slope on one side. I got lots of ideas there. All the flowers looked like they came from somebody's garden, every arrangement had sunflowers in it and everything looked friendly and happy. This memorial was a celebration of the lady's life and there was no greiving because she is in Heaven now with the Lord she loved so much. Many people spoke at the service and there was much laughter as we recalled the fun this lady had with life even though it was difficult at times she always found joy in it. After the service there was a nice dinner. We started home about 7 pm so it was pretty late (early?) when we got home. On the way home when we were going through some mountains we saw a bobcat cross the road ahead of us.
Now I need to go mow the lawn so I can start watering. The wind is blowing today so things dry out fast. My eyes and nose were drying out while I was riding.
Have a great evening everyone, count your blessings.
