Wish I had planted this one in a pot so I could take a photo with the webcam. It turned out to be a strange color not quite pink, but with peach undertones of sorts. I can't even think of an appropiate comparison except that maybe a sort of watermellon color. I had my brother dig up the tropicana since it just wasn't doing well where it was in the ground. I put it in a pot and hope to continue to grow it until it blooms.
Next year I will have to make that corner of the bed for shade plants only as it seems to always be in the shade cast by the house next door. Even the Missouri Marble is doing poorly over there.
My friend around the corner has dwarf yellow ones that she is going to give me some seeds of and I will sow these and plant up for next year.
My canna finally bloomed
Joydie...nick the seeds with a file till you see white then soak warm overnight then plant..they come up real quick that way! :-)
Kyle,
Thanks for the info. I tried soaking then nicking the seeds. Sad to say but only 3 sprouted. I'd love to try more of the canna with the different colored foliage. I saw some in a catalogue that were yellow with green stripes. They were gorgeous! Now do I let these die back over the winter indoors or can I keep watering them to get the plants to produce more babies?
