Tacoma Stans
Glad it is doing so well, Cala. I hope Brugie's is growing. How about it, Brugie?
Roz, I was going to write you last night to tell you that mine opened yesterday. It is doing great and I love it. Thanks so much for sharing your plant. I owe you big time.
Nice looking Tecoma! I collected some seeds of those in India :]
Should any time. I think Roz grew the ones she had at the spring trade from seed.
I grew these from seed a couple of years ago then traded them away come fall. sigh I SO need a longer growing season. :)
Or a green house. Just watch out for the mosquitos.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! LOL You are something. ;)
Roz, I was so surprised when I stuck my nose in the bloom of the TS and found out it has a nice fragrance. Mine is blooming just great. Hope I can hold it over the winter okay. Thanks so much.
Glad you like it, Brugie.
Brugie, I cut some and rooted today, so we should have more next year if your don't make it. I hope you have Phillipine Violet (baleria cristada) too. It starts blooming in late summer here and always comes back. Little purple flowers.
Roz, I had a couple of the Phillipine Violet cuttings, but couldn't get them to root. One of them was still alive this spring, but no roots, so I stuck it in the ground and of course, it didn't make it. I'm going to be making some changes to my main flower bed next spring. Want it to look more tropical. Guess what I'm saying is that I'll probably be using more cannas and bananas along with EE's......big stuff. However, I might be a little more careful about placement. Things got too crowded this year.
i would, if i may, like to try cutting or seeds of TS and Phil. violet. Pls.! u just wet my appetite for these plants. LOL TIA.
Ma Vie, I have a Phillipine violet rooted and will send to you. Don't have tacoma stans rooted yet, but I have put them in the rooting medium, so maybe in a few weeks. I should have seeds if you want them.
Thank U Roz :)! whoopee!!! i hope i got something to send u. pls. let me know what u are looking for, one never know if i got some at hand. or can i send u priority stamp for them?? pls. advice. thank u, thank U!!!!
Don't worry about sending me anything; I am sure down the road you will have something that I am just dying to have and maybe you could send me something then. Just glad I have one for you.
What does a phillipine violet look like?? I just love the yellow of this one. I have a allamnda that has large bright yellow blooms but not this many together in a cluster. Love it.
Thank You Roz :)!
here u are Kelley :)!... http://plantsdatabase.com/go/2401.html
that is a very sweet flower.
Kell, Phillipine Violet is Baleria Cristada and it is a small shrub with dark green leaves and purple flowers, usually in late Summer or early fall.
Roz
I am trying to root some of these from a local gardener but maybe I would have better luck with the seeds. Where are they? If I do manage to root one, would I have to bring it in for the winter (get snow here)? Just cut it back and put in dark cool place?
Annie
I think you will be able to root this fairly easily, but if not it produces many seeds. It makes round seed pods, and I pick them when I see them beginning to open, but you better put them in a butter dish with a lid cause they will literally pop out and across the room! They are also easily grown from seed. I think I would definitely bring it inside in the winter. Mine dies back, but comes back each year but we are in zone 8B, and sometimes I think where I live is zone 9. Let me know how the rooting goes.
What do the seeds from the Tacoma Stans look like? Are they in long skinny pods kind of like a bean? Are the seeds black or dark brown with a whitish, papery covering that extends past the ends of the seeds?
Green Leaf, you are exactly right.
Good,good, good.
My hubby's Grandmother lives in Puerto Rico and I got some seeds off of a vine that was growing beside her house. It had the prettiest yellow trumpets on it. I had no idea what it was, until I saw the pic on this post.
THIS PLACE IS SO GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
My tacoma stans is really a bush, but I guess you could call it a vine because it branches way out and falls over. If you seeds don't come up, let me know cause I should have plenty of seeds this fall.
I would love some seeds Roz..if possible. Do I ave anything you want??
Kell, I have some seeds from last year; theyare probably still good if you want them when I send your other. Otherwise, I will gather fresh ones this fall, and try to root some plants. I will be glad to send seeds to anybody who wants them.
sounds great roz!! You are too nice! As you can tell my eyes are bigger than my yard......oh well!!! please let me know if I ever post something you have an interest in!!
Oh no! Mine is definitely a vine. It was growing up into the tree branches. Roz maybe we could trade some seeds. I would really like to know what these are, they are very pretty. LMK if you want some.
Green Leaf, you have mail.
