I can't believe I didn't know this one had buds. It blew over in the wind yesterday(it's in a pot and had a soft landing on another brug) and that's when I noticed these flowers. It's way tall, maybe 10 feet. I had to stand on a ladder to take this. The plant looks a little rough, it's because of the tumble it took in the wind. It also needed water.
Pink Beauty
cala, now isn't this just your favorite? you've done a great job with your brugs.
This brug sure has huge buds and blooms. I can only hope that mine will decide to be a better bloomer. I didn't get my fill on the first five blooms.
Ahhhh.Just wait until it's fully open.
You have another beauty Calla.
It's beautiful. Hope my baby grows up to be just like yours.
I love it! You had a 10ft plant blow over? I'd have had a heart attack.
Beautiful pic:)
Bow I can see I really do need to help you in your greenhouse next Feb. and March!! 10 ft., ya say!!!

Yes, but it was cushioned by another brug. I need a bigger pot, this one is in either a 17 or 20 gallon and it's just not big enough. This thing is tall and today the flowers are huge!! I didn't think it was ever going to bloom. Back in late winter, it was barely 12 inches high.
Liz, if I'd realized which one it was that was down, yes, I'd have had a heart attack!! When DH was picking it up for me, I thought to myself "now, which pink is that that's blooming?" When I went over to check and see, boy did I check it over for broken branches.
Sure wish I had a cutting of this one:)
Owen
owen, I'll start you one.
It is so beautful. Do you keep it outside in the winter months?
Do you have a cross partner for it, Cala? I would pollinate a candida flore plena with Pink Beauty.
WOW! another beauty. no wonder brug raising can be very addictive. LOL!!!! will it ever end?
maVie, it never ends.
Monica, I did that today, must have been telepathic brug crossing!!
Wind, heavens no, wouldn't leave any of my good ones out. My poor Jungle House is going to be bursting at the seams.
i know exactly what u mean Cala LOL!
I thought that if you cover it with hay or straw and news paper then they would keep over the winter months. I was hoping anyway because I don't have the room for all of mine and I don't have enough light for cuttings. I have to find some way to keep them over the winter.
Wind, The growers in zones 8 and higher can get by with mulching good in the winter and having plants come back. Even though they get frosts their ground doesn't freeze like the lower zones do.
Thanks Snowhermit, I was just hoping against hope that I could keep them all. All the ones that you have given me are doing fine and lush but I am still waiting on blooms. what amazes me is how the little ones can bloom but not the larger ones, I guess I still have a lot to learn. Can you please tell me how to take cuttings, they are so large and the y part of the plant is like a tree and I don't know where to start to cut.
It might work, Tonny but not with pink. Pink Beauty has pink and golden yellow genes and if the flore plena has a color parent, likely a golden aurea or apricot versi, then a yellow double might be possible.
You sure have a beautiful brug. Love it!
Cala,
I love the tendrils on this one!
Great! Thanks a million Tig:)

I never heard of this plant till I came here! Now I gotta have one. Man, oh man. It is so pretty! If this drought ever quits around here I'll have to see about planting some in the spring.
