Coleus sun types in grouping.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

This is a grouping of coleus at work last year..From the top to the right:Red Ruffles, Pineapple,Red radish, the Line. Makes a great contrast to use types planted in amongst each other instaed of just all the same .

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

very nice. we, okay DH, just dug a new bed for next spring near the tropical bed we just did. It's about 9 x 20 crescent shaped. I'm going to do all coleus in it.

Cala, Red Ruffles and Red Radish, I don't have. At least if I do have them, they don't look like this.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

That will be beautiful!! I've decided that some of the daylilies have to be moved so I can plant more tropicals. Wonder how close I can squeeze them together.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

well you can just send me that big fat red one and have all that room!!! LOL!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Red Daylily? Didn't know you liked daylilies.(would that be my Red Volunteer that you're after? Better hide it now)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

it's on the front side across from the patio where Trish and I were talking. it's huge!!!!!!!!!!! if it sets seed, holler

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

On the hill? I'll have to check the seed. I've been terrible about gathering them this year.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Very nice contrast. I dont have any coleus, but I think I will plan for some next year. I didnt realise just how versatile they are. I had a couple last year, in the shade.

Kyle,
The coleus grouping is a great idea. The color contrasts are really striking...just love that bed!! If you keep posting pictures like this I'll have a stunning garden...just call me "gardening design through Kyle's influence."..lol

Joydie...you so crazy!!!LOL

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Kyle, I think I read that many sun coleus are vegetative, therefore do not produce seeds, but must be propagated by division- does that sound right?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Kyle, what is that lager dark purply plant with the green blue ruffles in the back? Nice contrasts. I love a garden that weaves colors together like fabric. Do me a favor and check out my sick wisteria picture on the identification forum and see if you can tell me what is wrong. I am so sad about it. I fluctuate from thinking it is from overwatering to too little watering.
thanks

Roz..thats right some are from cuttings only
Kell..its called Red Ruffles coleus

Kyle,
Love the colors--really like the 2 yellows on the right. Do you know their names?

I found more coleus on Saturday at the market. They were only a $1. I bought 2 that look marbled with red and pink and the other is red, green and yellow. The leaf edges are crimped so that makes them very different and the leaf shape is like an oak leaf. I took lots of cuttings from them and they are rooting now in water. I'll make lots more cuttings over the winter.

Bward..the 'line' on the left and 'Pineapple' on the right.
