pebble..I won;t buy another canna from Walmart,K mart,Lowes Etc..they were ALL mislabeled this year.....Makes me made when I plan a display and they turn out a different kind or color.
Well, the funny thing is that this was at a reputable nursery.....(shorty's, in Vancouver) I have half a mind to go over and just tell them. What irks me more is, that I had sent a whole bunch of these to various people....now they are going to think I'm a dilly....
I know your not a dilly........and it really isn't the nursery's fault, but the distributor's!!!
"eyes"
you're right there Eyes....I guess I wont go and complain - they cant do anything about it now anyway..
Pebble, it happened to me too. I went to a very nice nursery and paid a lot for a Valentine canna. It's orange!!
I guess it's just human error, I really don't think that the nurseries intentionally set out to mis-guide us. in the case of the large home depot type stores, I think it is just ignorance of the staff.
I just returned a brug, Betty Marshall, to the nursery where I had bought it at the end of June because it flowered frosty pink! It had 3 tall stalks. I had cut one in half to send to Arlene (imagine my embarrassment emailing her that I had traded a Frosty Pink). I had moved it into a 15 gallon from a 5 gallon. I was going to make it into a small tree, but had not gotten around to cutting off the completely the 2 other stalks. As my husband loaded it into the car for the return trip he broke the 2nd stalk in half. I did not care! They were taking it back, I was not going to have another frosty pink. They took it right back and I insisted on my 15 gallon pot back also. Then I went to look at their brugs and they had 3 in 5 gallon pots that were about 4 feet tall, 1 stalk and they were calling them standards and charging $60. I had to laugh, with a little trimming my would be a 6 foot standard in a 15 gallon pot, how much you want to bet they charge $120. After I left I realized I had forgotten to charge them for my dirt!
oh kell..the woes...well, at least you returned it. did you get something else in it's place?
but of course Pebble............ a trip to a fancy nursery ......I always walk out with something! I got Centennial Spirit Crape Myrtle. I just love them! And an arbor for my 2 Eden Climbers. LOL, they gave me my $29 back and I spent $150 in return. I tried to explain to my DH how cost efficient that was!
LOL KELL........
