so how did you hold it up???? inquiring minds want to know

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

I spray painted a large piece of styrofoam board and placed it behind the pot.Took the pic then trimmed it to remove the pot.I think Barbara's black velvet gave a much better background.Black velvet is something I don't keep handy.Guess I need to visit a fabric store or cut up some of my art collection.

Great picture, G2S! Great also that you share how you do the background. After we saw Barbaras picture we has discussed, how we wuold make a frame and put black velvet or any black on it and use it for garden pictures. It must be one, that can be "speared" into the ground, so it won`t move much in the wind. Its a whole new way to photograph and experience Brugmansia memories. *lol*

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

That is a great looking picture!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Beautiful picture.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Not to mention Tonny that you do not have to neaten up the surrounding envirionment!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

A beautiful picture. I guess I have to upgrade my backgrounds.

G2S, when you go to the fabric store, hold up the black velvet and ask the clerk if she thinks that's enough for a skirt!!!
Beautiful photo.

thanks for the tip - I was wondering how we were getting those stunning brug pics with the black background....will have to try it......

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Gone2seed.....nice pic...I still favor this brug..mine here always waits till late to bloom..mostly because I have to cut it back so hard each fall..gonna fool it this year..gonna root some y'd branches at about 3-4 ft height.. no more 6 inch diameter trunk!! LOL
:-)

Duncan, BC(Zone 8a)

Liz, don't worry about your background. Even tho I'm also from the PNW your views are to die for!

Liz, your backgrounds are just as interesting and breathtaking as the brugs you post......

Good idea about rooting the y's kyle..then what? will they sit inside all winter waiting for it to warm up? you will pot them when they root, thenwait?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I rooted a few y's last year simply because they had seed pods on them. They sat there semi dormant all winter, then in spring really took off and grew.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Pebble they will root in a couple of weeks then when I'm sure they are growing...WHAM!! there go the big plants. The adult plants are in 30 gal pots now..

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I need 30 gallon pots.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Cala, what was that size that you had when we were up there?? can you believe I found one of those on the side of our road today? not from me, I checked:)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

good idea

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

TiG, I think they were 69 quarts, isn't that about 17 gallons?(17.25) I wonder if Dee lost it on the way to Fla?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Our local Maytag man brought me two old washer tubs. Boy, they are great for growing brugs. Good drainage and hold a lot of soil. Just wouldn't want to move them around much. Pretty cheap way to get a big pot.

JT, your picture is great. Really shows off the bloom color and shape.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

no, it had weeds in it, someone tossed it out in the past couple of days. was really glad to stop and pick it up for them though:)
