Mites or virus?

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

After all the talk about mites, I'm unsure if this is what this brug has or if it's a virus. The bottom leaves are all mottled and turning white. Any suggestions or advice would be most welcome.

That's a good question for Monika. I want to say it looks like mites, but I've been wrong before.

Thanks. I'll be watching this thread to see what I should do about it. It's been in the house under lights with a few others, and none of the others have this.

I hope I am wrong, but it sure looks like mites have been at it. This has been a wonderful year for them, bad for us!

Looks like a sanguinea?? I'd vote for mites- garden variety mites.

And the first thing I'd do is get rid of those affected lower leaves. Then wash your hands before you move on to the next brug.

I guess if I had a choice, I would pick mites over virus, as I think I can get rid of the mites, but I'm so new at all this brug stuff I might be wrong. I'm so scared of viruses that if this is what it is, I'll probably pitch them and start over. Then I would be the next one up for brug abuse. LOL

Joan, these are spider mites. They love it dry and warm.

Thanks Monika, I'll do a little research on them and see what I can do to get rid of them.

I had several that looked like this in the spring - after spraying several times with various mixtures, all the new leaves look healthy & I just picked the mottled ones off!
