Golfito-Don M.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

BWARD, as you requested.

The pic looks doctored a little, but it has very dark distinct leaves, different from most brugs.

Gloria,
This cutting also came from Don M. by way of Larry in NC.

Then you should have the real one. Do you think the weather etc. might make them somewhat different? I will hang onto any brugs that bloom a little different than they are supposed to, as next blooms may be better.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

it looks like a design on fabric...........so pretty

Is it that dark red? WOW

G.
Is yours getting ready to bloom yet? If this one I have blooms the same the rest of the year off to the compost pile it goes.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

That's sad, please give it a chance. No mine had spidermites, Ed sprayed it, in 95 degrees and it went downhill. Just now coming back, so won't be blooming, unless a miracle happens. Has it been hot and dry there, also?? Air is terribly dry, burning up my chenile plant(red blooms), not been a very good summer.

G.
LOL....I'm gonna give it till frost.

Thanks for sharing the photo. The flower is wonderful!!! Larry sent me a cutting and it has buds ready to open. I hope it is the same one but my leaves are not that dark. Could be our heat.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

It's so pretty. I really like it.

Hibiscus,
Where did you get that picture of the Golfito?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't know where she got the picture, but it is the same one I saw on a web site explaining how Don M. Collected this brug. That was last year and now I can't find the site. I sure wish it would look like this is real life.

Hamilton, Canada

Golfito is just stunning. Larry also crossed this one, but I don't know what he crossed it with.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Glory, I've been looking for that site for months, just trying to find that darn picture. Guess I'm going to have to figure out how to search a little better. Thanks.

Hibiscus, thanks for sharing this Brug historical picture. *lol*

Glory, thanks for the link. I once ha it in my favorites, but lost it and couldn`t find this site. :-)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Bward, i will be amazed if golfito is really a different brug.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

the site says you can buy cuttings from him. has anyone?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

That site is old. I did get a cutting from him this spring, but it was a trade. He is a good friend of my friend Renee in Milwaukee.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

SO you have this one Brugie? How is it doing for you? Or have you already said and I missed it?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Has grown nicely and is just beginning to get buds. It was fairly late when I got it, but I think I will see bloom this year.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

SO excited !Can't wait to see it!
