Golfito

I just took this picture and then took one of my Frosty Pink and the only difference I could see was 6 points( on Golfito) instead of 5 points...but this could change for the next flower. My Frosty, Isabella and Golfito are all the same color here.

Glory, the leaves on my frosty pink are ruffly, the ones on isabella are smooth, kinda long and relatively thin. the color is almost shiny/satiny, richer, deeper on isabella. maybe someone else will have a better description. i can tell my flowers apart too.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Glory, Here we go again on pinks.LOL My FP has pink that fades lighter as it go into the tube, Isabella has a definite line about 1 1/2" wide around the skirt of flower and then fades more dramatically to a pale pink.
What do the buds of the Golfito look like. Do they change like the FP from white to pink? My Golfito hasn't bloomed yet.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Glory,

Do you have the true Golfito? From Costa Rico? I have a picture of it, and it is different from yours. Forgot to say, thanks for posting, I have been waiting to see yours.

Hibiscus, can you post a photo of your Golfito?

Barb,
This flower does the same as the Frosty....solid white to the white with pink trim. Now I haven't compared leaves...just the flowers.
I just read a post on another site and this guy also has the Golfito and he too can't see any difference in the Golfito and the Frosty.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Well then Glory, your cuttings will feel very much at home with all my frosties.....LOL!

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Sad day--my golfito bloomed and it is Frosty Pink. Does anyone have a cutting of the real Golfito they would like to share or trade?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Barb, I've got one coming along and I'll send you one this fall. It came from Don M. I haven't seen it bloom yet. Remind me this fall.

Barb,
Do you think ours this not not a true Golfito? I need to get in touch with Larry.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Glory, Please let me know what Larry says.

Brugie, have you seen the Golfito bloom? I will try to remember to remind you.

Did have something nice happen today--photo to follow in few days with second bloom. The brug that was variegated on interior of leaves finally bloomed-waited 2 years!! Tiny flower with thin tube and almost flat flare of skirt which is only 3-4" wide.I know--show don't tell. Couldn't get out to photograph--pouring rain.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

send me the rain when you're done!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Send rain our way also! Everyone else it getting it, all around us, stops just short of Lima, O.

Barb,
No rain here today. I will let you know as soon as I hear from Larry..if I do hear from him.
I have a surprise for you coming in the mail in the next few days...are you going to be at home? LMK

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Will be here-especially if I am going to get a surprise. It is the child in me! LOL

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Forget the plant Barb...send me the rain!!PLEEEEEEEEEASE! :-) even the cornfields here are dying from the heat and drought this year.

If I had an air conditioner, that was strong enough I would blow all the rain from Monikas, Ludgers and mine garden to your places. *lol* I could imagine Dave setting up a weather exchange forum *lol* "Have: Drought. Wanted rain. Can we set up a trade?".

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Kyle, did you receive your CH ?

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

My Golfito cutting died on me a few weeks ago.. :(

Update,
I just received an email from Larry and this cutting of Golfito that I have came directly from Don Martinson.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh Glory, I wish it looked a little different than your picture. To me, this looks just like a Frosty Pink, Insignis Pink, Isabella, and some of Eric's seedlings. I can't keep all of them when they are going to look alike. Sure doesn't look like that picture on the web site, does it?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

You start a new craze in brug collecting. All the same brugs (or nearly the same) with different names. Geez ... just think how hard that would be to keep track of names, lol.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I am ahead of that craze...........call me Miss Frostie!!!

Shirley,
This one has bloomed again and the first and second round looked the same....out it goes. Maybe some one will want it this fall.

Kell,
Need another Frosty looking brug?...got a big one here. LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

No Kell, take mine.........please!! :-) Hey Glory, let's just send them to her with no name on them and let her grow them up as unknowns.......maybe we better not. She would lose it if she had to deal with another FP. :-)

S.
That's a great idea. LOL Kelley could be the Queen of the Frosty Pinks. LOL Poor baby everybody picks on her. LOL

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

My Golfito from Don Martinson has buds.
Will be comparing soon ..

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Abutilon,
Please let us know. I Think we all have Frosty Pink.
Got any good cannas lately--haven't been reading the Canna emails lately. Got Princess Di--Lovely! I am off topic and may get banished from the brug group for talking about another plant. *LOL*

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

never barbara! we talk about everything here!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes Barb, just everything!! We even have a romantic poet on call here. flights of fancy are not only tolerated but encouraged!

Getting back to the Frosties............do not bother to send me any free ones! I prefer to buy them! Practically all of mine were bought and paid for! I am so proud! No fool is me!

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Bward, yes always new cannas here. LOL Don't even know how many we grow anymore.
That has gotten crazy.
'Princess Di' is blooming beautifully here right now. Love that one (o:

We have had such a hot no rain summer May to past week. With a few good rain days and cooler
temps, all the cannas are blooming wonderfully. Good photo time (o:
And most of the brugs are setting buds. Can't wait for blooms (o:

Thanks to Kyle and the rippled leaves, I have exchanged IDs re: Frosty Pink and
insignis pink. So believe those two correct ID now. Both are old plants before the influx of newer models.
I probably mixed tags thinking both the same.
'Golfito' from Don is in bud. And 'Isabella' from a spring trade, also. Compare time. HA

Kell, I have a few 'other' Frosties from cloudy origins. Interested? ;-)
Most of mine are bought, also. From reputable suppliers (important). Takes out alot of guesswork (o:

Hey Folks, I have a great idea. To show our appreciation for Kell, we should all send her a half dozen of nice pink brugs. Names aren't important(heck, we could even make up names so she will have a good collection).

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

What a great idea Cala. We sure do appreciate her sense of humor. I've got six named pink cuttings for her. Sure hope she will like them. I'll send her Pinky Stinky,Pink Nightmare, Doldrum Pink, Wasted Pink, Dumpster Pink, and last but not least Pink Horror. Do you think she'll like them?

LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

lol.... not only that we can send her a separate email to announce each brug we are sending......

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

lol Arlene, That sounds like a plan. btw, How's your nose today?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I love all the ideas. Wonder why Kell hasn't been back. She must have stayed up late enough last night that she hasn't pulled herself out of bed yet this morning. Thought she got up at six or so. She is wasting valuable time..... :-)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I am here..............I have been busy digging holes for my new pink nightmare to begin!!! And to think I was the one that declared to all my incredible desire for a dark pink........remember my EP cravings!! Well I have gotten over that, my lot in life is to be frosty pink!!!

LOL Arlene............. make sure you say Kell, you have pink mail............LOL!!

and I insist on paying $29.99 for each Frosty you send! Why change now?
and Brugie, yes I stayed up too late writing to you!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Well shucks, and I didn't even get my mail until this morning. You could have had a little more sleep had you waited until you got up this morning to write. Now, just how many of those FP's do you want at that price? I've got a ton of them. :-)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Brugie!
