A little late to be starting journal for today. But here goes.
The first thing I heard out of my Hubby's mouth this morning was, "We're out of water." Now, maybe it's time to move into the 21st Century, but I just haven't. We still have our water trucked in. SSOOO... good thing I take my bath at night. My only problem was going to be the water for the bottle calf. I went out to the stock tank and dipped out water heated it up and no prob. Still made it to my job on time. I used to say my 8-5, right now it's my 8-12. As soon as I got off work I hurried over to the Vet hospital to check on my little ailing calf. They had done surgery on her and she was still woozy. The infection was pretty extensive, but I think she will recover. Then off to Lowe's (for those that don't have one of these it is a hardware - little bit of everything store). They had a great plant sale. I picked up a plant to mail to someone and then , well, I had to buy a hosta. When I got to the check out they had marked them both down even more than I had thought. Then off to vote. Anyone else have elections today? Well, primarys anyhow. I vote in an old one room schoolhouse. The guy running for County Clerk in the election has been very instrumental in keeping it well preserved and is from my community. Anyhow, before I could get out the door my elderly neighbor lady asked if I would be on the cemetery committee. I said sure. Then she asked if I would be President. Oh man, I said sure. The cemetery is where my parents, Grandparents, and GreatGrandparents are buried, numerous Aunts and Uncles and More than that of my Hubbies family. So then I drove home got several things ready for mail. Mostly stuff for Dave's people. It got real confusing at the Post Office. I have the old stamps and had to add cents to the SASE as well as the one I mailed with the bubble wrap etc. Then someone is sending me some plants for postage and had to send her priority mail stamps. They changed that too! And It makes a difference what state is mailing it! Good Grief! I think the lady that was helping would have loved to know what I was mailing. If the Post Master had been there he would have asked me what plants I was mailing and then remind him not to forget to give the hibiscus seeds to me in the fall. I also thought I had a new invention by turning a priority box inside out and using it for regular mail. Post Office lady said I could get in trouble if they found out! Ok, so back home. Called my kids and then tried to lay down a minute. Tried to call for water, but noone was home and the answering machine said to call back , not to leave a message. After laying down a minute I went to feed my one bottle calf that is home. She was sure glad to see me and didn't seem to mind the water had been dipped out of the tank again. Hubby got home late, he got groceries so we had to put them away and originally the deal was it was his turn to fix supper. But, I wanted to go to the Court House and hear the Callin'. Our little town is the County Seat and election returns are called off of the Court house steps. Everyone brings their lawn chairs, and they set up bleachers. But, before I could get ready to go my Best Friend called and I swear she wouldn't get off the phone. She had a lot on her mind. I still had to call for water , finally got the guy. whew! Finally I got to jump in the car and off to the Callin'. brushing my hair, eating an apple and putting my shoes on the whole way to town. I had missed all the stump speakins', and wasn't about to miss this. But, we hadn't eaten supper yet and decided to grab a bite in town. Hubby wanted to sit down and eat! Huh? Relax and eat? ok, ok, so we sat and ate supper. So I didn't get to the beginning of the Call. People will take tally sheets and keep records as they come in. I knew there would be some close races and I wanted to be there. All the different families and their people get together and cheer and clap when they get the most votes. The guy from my community (the one that has worked so hard on keeping the old schoolhouse together) has had some bad publicity against him. Some real dirty politics. I was glad to see he won. His elderly Mother, was setting all alone. I went and talked to her for awhile. She is always upset with the dirty politics and was so relieved when her son won. So now I'm home, the old well is full of water. Hubby is pleased. So Good Night everyone.
