An auction story (true one)

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

A friend of ours took some cattle to the sale. He was sitting there in the bleacher type seats talking with other farmers while they sold the sheep, goats and hogs, waiting for his cows to sell. His little boy who was about 4 was standing between his daddy's knees watching everything go through the ring. Our friend suddenly heard the auctioneer ask "what's your name sonny?" and he heard his son answer. He had bought a pig, a bred sow, looking very pregnant. They took her home, built a pen quickly and soon she had 8 piglets. One was raised for their own freezer, the others were sold for enough money to buy the kid a little motorbike so he could follow his Daddy around when he went to change irrigation water. The sow was taken to a neighbor's boar and rebred. We thought it was a funny way to get into the hog business.
