Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

Morning, everyone!!
Praise the Lord!! We got an inch and a half of rain last night. I felt like running out into the rain to get wet, it was the most wonderful sound that I have heard in a while. At least it will help the alfalfa. DH just sat outside on a stool, watching the clouds before it rained. He was concentrating on the clouds so much, he forgot to shut the hydrant off that fills the tank for the cows, so they have a big swimming hole this morning. THe pump was the first thing I heard this morning when I went to check the rain gauge. I can just see the weeds growing already. It should also help the garden. I don't know what it is about rain, but watering just keeps plants alive, it's not the same as a good rain.
My little apple tree that I planted a few years ago has some apples on it. I was surprised, because we had so many late frosts, I thought the blooms froze. Now, I have to keep the birds away from them. The rain also perked them up too.
Well, it's off to my dads this morning and then to a farm sale. I just love auction sales. There are such goodies there. The sale bill says they have chicken equipment, so I hope there is a water heater that I can use this winter for their waterer. DH thinks that the are the old kerosene ones, but I don't want those. Will have to go check it out.
Take care everyone.
Ruth
