This grows wild in Crete - and it is very beautiful.
Plenty of this stuff, if anyone is interested -
and as the seeds are mature on the stems growing near the beach, place your orders please - it is a pleasure to pick them.
This wild hollyhock reaches a height of 1.2 - 1.7 meters;
it is well described in "Flowers of the Mediterranean" by David Burnie.

alcea pallida ssp. cretica
Dimitri, you have mail.
You have mail
Dimitri - I'd be interested in a few of these seeds.
Hi, poppysue !
I will send you some, as I have plenty. I also have wild poppies, as last year I did not succeed in collecting rhoeas. For those, let me say that they are very small and only a few flower per plant (pure vermillion red petals) while the bigger ones with black centered deep red petals produce about 50 flowers per root, longer and wider. I have mixed seeds, and will add them as well, if you want.
Dimitri
hello bitty1,
please send me an email with your DG nicname, realname, address and request, it is hard trying to keep track of
all this with maybe's and if please's. I am happy to send what I have, and if you have something I could use, I will be happy to accept it.
Dimitri
Dimitri, do you still have any seeds of those? I have the Mediterranean flowers book and it had a pic of that one... very pretty. I will email you.
Plenty of seeds around, although a strong wind took away those I had collected and left in a shoebox on the windowsil - but not to worry, I will pick plenty tomorrow.
Evert, I must have from lastyear somewhere the alcea rosea var. nigra (on the same page in the book), with larger flowers of deep burgundy - brown color. I will put some for you if I find them.
Dimitri
Ok thanks :D
I already have the nigra seeds, have sowed some too, so you can send them to someone else who maybe would like them?
