tadpoles

montgomery, AL(Zone 7b)

I went out to the pond today & there were what looked like hundreds of black tadpoles. Guess I now have a busy pond. Will the fish eat some of them? I sure have enough to spare *LOL*

I don't know what happens to them, but you won't be hearing them knock at the door:) a busy pond is a healthy pond.

The fish here eat them with great happiness. The thousands become hundreds in fairly short order.
My friends fish won't eat her tadpoles at all! giggle So I can't say if they will thin out or not. I do know that the tadpoles do eat algae but they also produce ammonia which makes algae grow in your pond. Good luck, Lani

My fish didn't even touch my tadpoles. But mine were definitely toads not frogs. Ponditis is right...they do raise the ammonia level in your pond so keep a close eye on it. They also clogged my filters big time so I was disposing of them as quickly as I could. I know it sounds cruel but . . . "T"

I had gobs and gobs of toad-poles :-) I had hungry gold fish. The fish are less hungry now and the tadpoles are gone.

I wouldn't care if they did eat a lot of these tadpoles.. there is so many of them
We now have 4 muck bucket ponds working together so the tadpoles are getting distributed in all 4 buckets.. It is far from finished but have the fish & tadpoles in them..I'm putting a picture in photos of our bucket brigade pond.

Dragonflies eat the tadpoles too.

Calalily,

Do you mean the dragonfly adults or larvae? My tadpoles were on the bottom most of the time so I don't think the fliers could get them, could they?
