Use caladiums in pots and lift them in winter-some are dug in ground and some are tucked back in where I need color. They don't smell like flowers but they give a good bang for their cost.
Other edge of bed
what is that striped plant??? I love that? do you keep your caladiums in the pot all winter or take them out to dry?
Striped plant is Costus amazonicas variegatus-ginger
is it hard to get cuttings from??
Your box is getting larger and larger.
oh my. I've been thinking of nothing else but that side yard since you started posting these pictures. it's been a clutter horrible mess and I can't wait to see it next year.
another beautiful composition!
Barb, I like the striped coleus...I have about 25 kinds at work..all sun coleus types...
I am trying to collect the different sun coleus to use with the tropicals. They are such good companion plants.
That bed is beautiful. I'm gonna have to watch this forum more closely, such great plants and pictures. The striped coleus looks like one I have called 'Careless Love'. A piece broke off, I stuck it in water on the kitchen window sill and it rooted in just a few days.
now this bed gets what light? I know, I ask a million questions, but you shouldn't post such gorgeous pictures if you can't take it! :)
Beautiful composition of color, form, different textures, and varying heights.
Barbara, are those hostas in the very front?
Yes, they are newly planted small variety hostas.
great looking bed...........I will have to look at coleus again........after 20 years of not growing it!!
The bed is under a pecan tree, fairly heavy shade most of day but gets late afternoon sun.
