This is my first year for raising a few extra culinary herbs. When is the optimum time for picking and drying, I have sweet basil in the garden and it is ready to bloom. Am I too late or is it still ok to take?

Lenjo: Pick your basil now, or pick off the flower stem. You don't want it to bloom. The best time to pick herbs for drying is right before they bloom. So you are right on the mark.
