Do any of you 'herb folks'know of tangerine sage? thanks misslucy

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Misslucy, I suspect it's a scented salvia - probably a sport or form of Salvia elegans ("Pineapple Sage", similar to "Melon (or Honeydew) Sage") In fact, Gernot Katzer's spice pages bear out my suspicions - found this in a Google search: http://www-ang.kfunigraz.ac.at/~katzer/engl/generic_frame.html?Salv_off.html

If you're looking for sources, try Joycreek http://gardenwatchdog.com/c/161/ or Richter's Herbs: http://gardenwatchdog.com/c/133/

As an expensive last resort, several UK and a few Australian sources list it, too :)

Problem with Tangerine Sage (and why I've never entered it in the PDB)is that it doesn't have a registered cultivar, forma or varietas name. It really does smell orangey too, very different to the pineapple.

I grew Scarlet Tangerine Sage last year. The plant tag called it Salvia elegans. It was a wonderful bushy long bloomer. It was a lot bushier than my Pineapple Sage and the hummers sure loved it. It is a tender perennial and died once I got a frost. I'm hoping that it might come back from the roots like some of my other sages.
