Thanks Wingnut! I bet this is my plant. I'll let you know for sure when it blooms.

Forgive my total ignorance, but... is this edible?

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Cool Poppy! If yours has darker blooms, it still may be it. The ones in full sun get bleached out real quick to a kind of lavendar purple here (if you leave a bottle of Coke in the sun, it only takes two days for it to look like weak tea ~ our sun is STRONG!). It is kind of a neat plant ~ would be neater for me if they weren't absolutely everywhere here. And the drought proofness of it is rather attractive!

I don't think they're edible, Lo ~ I've always heard it was poisonous, but then that's what they said about tomatoes, too. I've never tried them and the livestock don't seem to like them either. Forgive your ignorance? No way! Aren't you supposed to know everything about all the hundreds of thousands of plants out there. *kidding grin!*
