I had one of these bulbs but misplaced, a year later I found it, it was still firm, I planted it, it is growing but pretty slow. Do you think it might still bloom?

I don't know why not. These only took 30 days to full maturity. How much longer is your outside growing season?

Is it normal for them to bloom right in the middle of the summer? What a nice treat to have along with the other lily bulbs. I swear, I think if I had the room, I would have a garden with nothing but bulbs, rhizomes, tubers, etc.

I first grew this bulb for about four years in a SW suburb of Atlanta, Georgia (Zone 7b) where it faithfully bloomed every year around June or July in a mixed perennial border in part shade. When I moved back to Florida last year it spent almost 8 months in a pot and did bloom as usual in July. It was then replanted into a well fertilized raised bed, also part shade, last October in Northcentral Florida (Zone 8b), and the plant has become huge this summer. Unfortunately our very rainy summer did destroy the early July flower after only a week of bloom. Nevertheless, this is a beautiful plant with the longest bulb leaves I have ever seen that recurve back almost to the ground--it looks like a huge green spider hunching in the flower bed, and the shiny light green leaves almost glow in the rain. The reliable, huge, white flower is always spectacular looking.

I'm a bit confused??????
In some previous pictures, I saw where this plant was called a Galveston Lily??????
Can anyone help me out there??? I have one of these and it's a blooming fool!!!! I love it!!!
Thanks......
