Last years new tropical bed last month
gorgeous! is that your house? you do a wonderful job out there.
Yes, we live in the historic district. We have worked on restoring the house for 25 years. We do most of the work ourselves. Bought a house behind it and had it torn down. That is where I am putting some new beds and where the greenhouse is located.
wow! great job!
Barb,
Looking good.....it's been a very long time since I was last on your street....we lived in Hattiesburg in the late 60's at USM.
Looks like you have plenty of room to really go wild with your planting. Love the tropicals and I know how much work you ALL have to put into the tropical beds. Just glad you do it so I can enjoy the pictures.
Barb, very nice. Your tropical bed looks divine.
the company I worked for owned the historic building our offices were in, we couldnt do anything to the building without a committe approving it. painting etc., and even minor repairs. Were you faced with anything like that?
Pebble,
Yes we have restrictions but they are not as stringent
as some historic districs. The committe is very easy to work with and has helped the neighborhood and community greatly.
now this area looks like it gets a fair amount of sun. but the side is in shade, right?
It is under pine trees. Gets filtered light afternoon on and sun all morning.
Side yard gets some morning shade from the pecan tree but it gets late afternoon light. Part of the beds along the brick walk get fairly heavy shade under the pecan tree(where the ginger you like is located) but the corner with the potato vine gets the late afternoon sun.
thanks, that helps me plan better. I'm glad your restrictions aren't too bad, and that you could buy that house behind you.
