violet charm clematis

Brooksville, ME(Zone 5a)

my second year with this plant. Trellis broke early this spring and broke down low on the vine. I was lucky to get this to come back so well.

Ohhh..that's lovely!

Very pretty clematis. Usually when the stems break, even lower down, they usually will come back, because the root system in the ground is well established, especially in a two year old vine.

BTW, are you positive on the name of your clematis? I'm not familiar with that one. If you want an excellent database of clematis, do a search on "Goggle" for "British Clematis Society", they have extensive information on growing from seed, cultivating, remedies for various diseases, and of course, their lovely database of flowering vines.

shirley1md....You know that very same thing happened to my fathers clematis this spring too. He didn't support it down low and the main stem broke right off. His bounced back even better than mine did since he has it in such a perfect spot.

No I'm not 100% sure about the name since I never questioned what the tag said that the plant came with. I love that website too. I like to browse it once in a while. Now you have me curious about whether it was labeled wrong.
