HELP.Now I have the crud!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Plant is in a big pot, not the ground thank god.........so I have isolated it! I believe this happened overnight......... the leaves on the top (the bottom of the leaves look normal) are now getting mottled green and if you just touch them lightly they fall off. A few of the leaves are slightly crisping on the mottled green edges. This was bought as a suavolens pink and was robust. I have not sprayed it with anything since last Saturday when I spayed everything with MG. I watered it yesterday before I went out for the day.

Check for spider mites. Seems to be that time of year.

No, I do not think it is spidermites or any bug. The mottling looks just like a watermelon skin looks like. When I moved it, tons of leaves fell off. I am going to toss the plant ASAP. But what is it?

NO!!!! do not toss the plant. flood with water the next 3 consecutive days. it will look sick but it will recover. u will eventually lose the top too. the following week new growths will appear. be sure to flood water thoroughly. i did morning and afternoon since winds have been constantly blowing. try to leach out the fertilizer that is embedded in the soil.

did u use Bayer's Rose systemic fertilizer lately? that was from personal observation. a week ago, i applied the Bayer's. watered it thoroughly. next day i got the same result u have on the photo. it is justified on my part to blame the Bayer's cause i have not used anything else. TG! the ones on the ground where not affected at all. only the ones on the pots. the ones luschious growing rooted cuttings i got are now bared stems. i was heart broken. live and learn i guess due to lack of knowledge and for being a newbie.

when i used the Bayer, i used sparingly and accdg to recommended amount. btw... i cut off the tops of all the brugs in the pots, since they crumbled and dried out. hope that help.

true i am heart broken, but on the positive side, i am learning in the process. only consolation i get now is to see new growth on these bare stemmed brugs. hth. good luck to u Kelley!

Kell, mine sometimes do this..mostly candida types..it will leaf back out..don't throw the plant...mine only affects a few plants for a short time..then regrow. :-)

From hence forth we should call you Sir Eclipse, our knight in shining armor rushing in to save the damsels in distress!!! I was sure it was a dreaded virus!

Ma Vie........ you need to put just a little on of that bayer rose food and systemic. I put it on the perimeter of the pot, not touching the stems and then only on the bigger pots. If you get a burn, I would take the brug out of the pot, shake off the dirt gently and wash roots and put back in new dirt and put in shade until recovered. Hope they are doing better. I got you package off this AM.

Gosh Kell, sorry to hear you are having trouble too. Bet Kyle knows what he is talking about. He is one smart guy when it comes to brugs and other flowers. I didn't have anymore brug deaths today after the candida double white went bye, bye. Hoping things will look up for you too.
