I had no idea that one bloom would last this long! I don't even remember how long this has been bloomed out now, but WOW!!! It just keeps on staying! I just love it!!!
This thing is still going!!
Very pretty and so big.
Very, very pretty.
Mine usually last 4-5 days unless the heat is really intense and then it is less. Your white brug bloom is very pretty and I hope it last a long time yet. It must be pretty heat tolerant because I'd think you are pretty hot in Georgia. Have a good one!!
Shirley, can you say hot as hades??????????????? today I had long established plants in the ground in the shade wilting in the heat! :(
tiG, I had some wilting too, but I am paranoid right now. Kyle said not to panic as he thought it was just the heat causing them to wilt. Geez, I was wilting too. It was horrible today. They looked okay tonight.
Knock on wood mine are doing fair due to all this heat. But the rains we have been getting seem to help a little bit.
Just keeping my fingers crossed that my other ones will bloom reguardless of the heat!
Molly, I haven't got one drop of that rain. :( and you're just up the road!!!
Are you for real tiG?? We have sure nuff gotton plenty lately, and there for a while we were getting rain every single day at around the same time in the p.m. Hard to believe that you and I live so close but yet the weather is soo different!! Strange ain't it??
Your flower is really pretty, Molly. I still havn't seen a bud on any of mine and two have died from the heat and wind, I think. Our wind has been terrible and hot and dry weather too. I have kept the brugs well watered each morning but they don't seem to like my weather here. Hope to have a flower this year but in the meantime I wish I had smell-o-computer. Lani
O Lani, you will be soo happy when you do get a bloom!! It is soooo pretty and the smell is outta this world!!!
you'll love it!!!!!
I wish I could send you a scratch and sniff e/mail of it, cause I would!
Don't give up on them yet, there is still time for yours to do their blooming I'm sure!
Yes, they will prolly bloom the week of the first frost. Giggle I feed them heavily now and water each morning before the sun gets high. The wind beat them up the other night but they came back and are ok now. Have lost two to wilt when the weather was over 105 for a week but the survivors seem ok.
WOW you really do get hot up there huh?? I don't think we have reached 100* yet. But I am glad of that!!
Good luck with the brugs girl friend, I know they'll make you proud!!
Lucky for me it usually isn't humid here. Can be with two large rivers less than a half mile from my home and our huge pond here too. But not humid lately. It was 98 today and I think that it may have affected another Brug. I am watching it closely. It is half wilted now but the side that was good was ok. I have a drip system on them now and also supplement water every morning since the drip is off at night. Hope to have blooms soon. Lani
they can't mind the humidity, they can't. cause it's been at least 70* humidity here all week (all month) and mine are thriving.
How true tiG we have had some pretty high humidity lately, and mine seem to be doing fine. Hang in there Lani!
I was more worried about the lack of humidity here. It is usually under 20%. But the wilted one is not wilted today. I flushed it last night thinking that I may have overdone the last fertilizer. Don't know if that was the problem but it is ok now. Just a little fried around the edges of the leaves.
I'm no expert by any means, but from what I have been reading they are very heavy feeders. So I wouldn't think that would hurt it. Then again, this is my first year too.
Maybe tiG or Cala can help you more.
I dug down and exposed the roots on the side that was wilted and it sure looked like fertilizer burn to me. Classic for the Master Gardener class that I took. I guess my idea of using liquid fertilizer on sandy soil without mixing it was a bad idea, HUH? Giggle. I saved it since it is perked up again.
Glad you figured out what the problem was...it's for sure I didn't know how to help ya :) Maybe it will make a big turn around and start blooming it's little head off for ya!
Much luck!
