Species changing color

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

OK, now I'm confused. Species is changing to a cream color with a hint of peach swirled in it. Isn't Species supposed to stay white?

any signs of double or triple blooms?

Snow,
Yes Species is white....didn't that come from Logees?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Yes Glory it did. Arlene, no signs of dbl or triple. Just wondering what this really is.

Snow,
Looks like Logees only sells two different ones that will turn colors....Versicolor(Peach) and Cypress Gardens.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Glory, It's not versi Peach as I have that one in bloom now too. Cypress Garden hasn't bloomed for me yet but I will go check the leaves on them tomorrow and compare. Not going to check them tonight. DD, SIL and grandkids came here tonight for DH birthday and when they were leaving they met momma bear up close and personal. She was walking out from behind their truck. I don't know who was more scared, the bear, me, or the kids. Of course I was in the doorway screaming like a crazy women for them to get in the truck. LOL

Cypress Gardens doesn't really look like that does it? arlene??

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

lol, would love to see that video, snow. v orange is a lot like v peach only much bigger. this is my experience this year. i didn't think cypress gardens changed from white. mine had beautiful flowers last week, lots.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

no, tig, and this is one i am sure i didn't mismark, which means there is only a slight chance that i did!!

Got this off the Logee's site:

Considered to be one of the best "Angel’s Trumpets" to date for containers. Young plants often flower at 3 feet in height with dozens of trumpets opening at once. The white flowers are fragrant at night, have the pendent grace typical of this group, and fade to light salmon with age. In no time you will have more trumpets than a royal wedding. Marvelous. Hardy Zone 8 and higher Full sun, grows to 4-6’ in container, minimum temperature 35°, blooms in spring, summer and fall.

I have one that I got from Barb and it fades to light salmon.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Glory, That does sound like mine. I'll wait and see if the other flowers do the same. Maybe they'll turn a more peachy color. This first flower just has a touch of peach swirled in it.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, what is the name?

Snow,
It's really a nice container plant but I know how you were looking forward to the Species. I have the LBJ Species if you are interested in a cutting later in the fall.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

well, i see that's the description. wonder what mine is? they stayed white a very long time, til they died. wish i had taken a pic now. hard to tell from the pics, but i am sure that's not what i had labeled cypress gardens. well, i wonder what azale and my sis have....maybe cypress gardens, maybe?????
whatever mine is, i love it.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

glory, if you have plenty, I was going to get a cutting from snow, can I get in line? If not, I need to buy one and start sharing on this end:) but then again, might not get the right thing!!!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Arlene, You sent me Cypress Gardens cuttings a while ago. Wish they would bloom this year so I could compare the two but they are still to small.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

LBJ doesn't carry Cypress G. and NativeHabitat doesn't have a picture

Tig,
I'll start a Species list...your on it.

Arlene,
Don't give up on it yet...sometime the heat prevents it from turning like it should....wait till it blooms in cooler weather. I have a Milk N Honey that stayed all white the last flush but bloomed true when it was cooler.

Glory, I would love one in the fall. I'll be sure of what I'm getting then.
Sorry tiG. Had high hopes we would both have a Species. But I do have your Sunray and I KNOW it's a Sunray. LOL

snow, maybe the leaves will give you a hint tomorrow. tig, i looked at the pic and description at earl's. i had gotten a baby cypress gardens from brugman, and the plant that you saw had a metal band on it with the name cypress gardens on it. am i surprised? don't know if my sis or azalea has the baby one i got from eric that had been sitting in water. (maybe my cypress gardens is V alba?) ????????
i'm not confused! well, let's just say that i am not surprised at being confused anymore.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, i am right sure that the shape on this one was different, if there's not a bloom on it, will be some more soon.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I don't remember who I got my CypGar from, don't think it was you, it's about 3' tall now, and well fed after seeing that lovely in your yard. Well!!! whatever you have arlene, I want one. You know I must have hovered around that plant, the flower is gorgeous.
snow, I'm more disappointed for you, you bought yours!!!
thanks Glory!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

tig, better keep a list, i'll forget, and if i keep a list i'll lose it......

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm bad with lists, but I want that one!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Oh my that is a beauty!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

snow, tig, was looking at my bloom and how long, given what i am supposed to have i think mine is V alba. wondered where it was. waiting on an update, Snow....

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Arlene, Just got home and went out and checked the leaves on the three cuttings you sent me of Cypress Garden. They are small plants but they do have the narrow leaves that v. Alba has.Now if Cypress Gardens has a narrow leaf also I'm afraid there's no way of telling till they bloom.

Arlene,
My Cypress Garden was from Native Habitat. It was white with very light peach stripes most times it bloomed.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Brugman, i obviously mixed up labels. i love the one i have though, and your white versi type hybrids from last year too.
