I've got four nice raspberry plants (about 10" tall - fully rooted and in the ground) that I would like to trade for some thornless blackberry plants. Any takers?
Will trade raspberry plants for blackberry plants
GrannyLois, We commercially raise the thornless blackberry, we call it the evergreen blackberry, we harvest it mid-August through mid September. I could send you new plants next spring and throw a marionberry in there too. The marion has thorns but a much better tasting berry. We are harvesting them now. I can't grow a raspberry, I think there is something in our ground like a wilt of something or other. I have had golden raspberries and they seem to be ok. The first year the raspberries grow pretty vigorously but then slowly they just all die out.We don't commercially plant fields till spring.I actually have marion plants heeled into the garden. If you want to try them I would have to trim them as they are getting kind of long already.Joann
Yes, Yes, Yes!
Are you sure you don't want to try my raspberries? Maybe grow them in a different place ... like near the house or something? LMK. And thank you so much! Hey, how close are you to Corvallis? I'll be coming up there early next summer probably.
Granny Lois, I am about an hour and 15 minutes from Corvallis, My oldest brother and family live in Corvallis. Keep in touch. How far is Blountville from Jackson?
I think Jackson is near Nashville, right? That's about 5 hours from us. I was in Oregon in June, in Corvallis, Lincoln City, Newport - absolutely loved it! Since my son lives there, I go visit once a year.
Jackson is near Memphis. Oregon has a wealth of nurseries and gardens, there is a big new one being made in Silverton about 10 minutes from me.Maybe a field trip north on your next visit could be worked out. Joann
I'd like that. We were amazed at the huge iris fields we saw there between Portland and Corvallis - right near Corvallis. And roses - just EVERYWHERE! Gosh, the whole state is like a big garden.
That iris fields you saw was Schreiner's. They have a display garden that is just awesome with lots of plants for sale not just irises. The lupines, delphiniums, columbines in that display garden is so beautiful. Not far from there, there is a peony nursery. Mt. Angel is a sweet little town with a beautiful church and a Benedictine abbey up on a hill just east of town by two or three blocks. The view from up there is wonderful. I live a little further east another 4 miles. Silverton where the Oregon Garden is is about 4 miles south of Mt. Angel. I would love to show Oregon off a little, I am not a native but have adopted it. I have been to Jackson and Memphis. I have an uncle and aunt there, their kids are there too, most of them anyway.
