Tall Morning Glory (Ipomoea purpurea)
Hi Mingsmimi,
This might be the common one but I do love it, so big and such a beautiful blue. I have a rose trellis with an old pink rose that blooms only once in the spring, this year I put two Heavenly Blues at the base of each side of the rose on this arbor, that MG is climbing in and out of the rose and surprising us with a touch of blue here and there. Your vine here looks so vigorous and healthy.Joann
Oh how pretty they remind me of my childhood, and lots of summer fun.
I thought I had some heavenly blues around somewhere. but. so far,. no one is blooming. I do so love morning glories. I can not imagine not growing them. They are such fun to wake up to!. Each and every day is different.... and if I spy a new shoot just starting I pray it grows up fast enough before the frost comes so I can see its glory!
Are "common" MGs and Grandpa Otts the same thing? Yes, I agree with everyone! They are ALL Soooo beautiful! Every-morning these vines give us gifts of new blooms! I too can't wait to see what each new day brings! I've planted at least 6 identifieable "named" MGs in containers (want to trade seeds later)and need name but this one doesn't have a name because I harvested these seeds from someone who hadn't even noticed that the vine was there! She was my old apartment manager. If I were her I would have moved my desk right in front of the window to get the best view of the show!
This just bloomed and bloomed till frost. Love it!
Mings, where ya been? I've been wondering about you for several weeks now. Hope everything is fine with you. Have you quit your job yet and become a full time gardener now. Let us know how your doing. Miss all your lovely garden pictures.
Donna
